The name’s Lindsay, Latte Lindsay. I’ll have a coffee, black like my soul…..
When your screen name is after your favourite beverage, people have expectations. Sadly, for some people, they fall short of their name. But not me! I love coffee in every form and these are my top tips for getting your caffeine fix.

Pay for it

This might sound like an obvious thing but it’s something to be mindful of. When you go to Starbucks, Costa, or even your local café, you pay for it. It is not just the coffee. It is the environment, the convenience of having someone else make your drink for you. It is the branded over-sized mugs with drawings in the foam of your latte. It is worth paying for.

Pay a little less for it

Ok, we all can’t afford to go to Starbucks several times a day, but we still need a fix. We also still want a little taste of it. The good news is that you can do it yourself. Most large coffee chains now sell branded mugs and their coffee blends so you can recreate it at home. You can even buy a fancy coffee machine that uses pods to create your favourite drink at home.

Don’t pay for it, kind of

Oooooh! What is this witchcraft you speak of, Latte? Well, I’m glad you asked. Pretty much every coffee shop, no matter the size or chain, has a loyalty scheme. You can get a Costa card to collect points. You can collect the little stickers off McDonalds coffee. Your local cafe might have a card and stamp scheme. All of these add up to free coffee. So when you are treating yourself to the odd cup, don’t forget to get your points/stamps for a free cup down the line.

Really don’t pay for it

If you really don’t want to wait for stamps to build up, make it at home, or pay for it, there is a way around it. O2, Wowcher, and other loyalty sites all offer free coffee from time to time. All you have to do is check these types of sites on a regular basis to see if there are any freebies for you.

Go freeze dried, instant and cheap

Everyone keeps freeze dried coffee in their cupboard without putting much thought into the brand they are buying. But a lot of the instant coffees available now are incredibly smooth, come in different strengths, and some are flavoured. One of the best things about a big jar of coffee is the price. For one big jar of “fancy” freeze dried instant coffee, you can buy one large latte from a café. But that big jar can do many mornings of coffee, while the one coffee only lasts….well, once.

And that’s it! Coffee is available in many forms and prices. There are plenty of different ways to get a fix of the black stuff, these are just some of my favourite ways to get my caffeine fix.
