Preventing Blocked pipes and an Absorb Bin Giveaway!

Please note this is a collaborative post which I have been paid in either items or money to share with my readers.

What is the Absorb Bin?

Absorb Bin is a fat trap that collects oil and fat from cooking in an easy convenient way that prevents the blocked pipes that can be caused by pouring oil down the sink.
Why is pouring fat down the sink an issue?

No-one wants to have to call a plumber out over Christmas because their pipes are blocked, in fact we don’t want that any time of year do we but it can happen. Not only does it happen in domestic pipes but also main sewer pipes. I’m sure like me you hate the idea of the sewer pipe contents ending up in your house, garden or street because of this. More information on this can be found on the United Utilities website here.
How can I prevent this without an Absorb Bin?

You can reduce the risk of blocked pipes and “Fat bergs” forming by putting cooled fat into the bin, or for large quantities arranging collection from your local council.
How can I win an Absorb Bin?

United Utilities Competition ‘My Roastie Photie’ – #binfat2winthat
With this in mind United Utilities thought it would be a great time to highlight the issue while also helping to solve a much debated issue – what exactly is the best way to make the perfect roast potato (there are in fact over 16 million Google page results for ‘perfect roast potatoes’!)
Should we use goose fat, dripping, olive oil or simply a bit of butter? Who knows, but United Utilities would like to find out what people think while also giving a gentle reminder that whatever does make the perfect roastie, the perfect way to dispose of leftover fats is not to pour it down the drains.
United Utilities is therefore launching the ‘My Roastie Photie’ competition, asking people to post a photo of their perfectly cooked roast potato with the hashtag #binfat2winthat – giving five people the chance to bag £100 of food vouchers.
Please note this competition is not in any way linked to Just Average Jen and any questions regarding it should be directed to United Utilities. I am just sharing it with you as we all want to win food vouchers don’t we! Please also tag me in any roastie photos you take with #justaveragejen would love to see everyone’s yummy dinners!
