A Birthday Full of Treats – Ben turned 12!

A Birthday Full of Treats – Ben turned 12!
So, this week my amazing boy turned 12 years old and you know what he makes me so proud. He has grown into a fine young man and deserved to be treated like one so we had two days of birthday treats I thought I would share with you!

Ben’s birthday was on Thursday so of course he had to go to school so I bought him some yummy cupcakes from Morrisons to take for his friends. If you have never tried their cupcakes they are delicious, not good for you, but delicious all the same. He went to school wearing two birthday badges, a Mansfield Town Football Club one as he is one of their biggest fans, and a 12 today one! The night before his birthday I took him for his hair cut so he looked so grown up with his hair styled and a big smile as you can see on the photo above!

After school we went into Nottingham for a meal out at Cosmo, if you have never eaten at their restaurants they are amazing! This was my first time there but there is so much choice, there are healthy options too but I must say we all rather over indulged as it is one of those places that you really cant help yourself! Ben had a cupcake with a candle in and along with a couple of members of staff we sung him happy birthday which he loved!

After our meal out we went to Nottingham Theatre Royal as we had tickets to see the play of Awful Auntie, a book by his favourite author David Walliams! We saw Gangsta Granny by the same theatre company last year so had no doubts it would be amazing. Sitting at the back of the dress circle with a brilliant view of the stage we had a wonderful time. In the interval the manager of the theatre gave Ben a poster for his birthday which he was absolutely thrilled about.

The show was amazing and it is very much the sort of show even adults can enjoy. Such a good book that is just as good as a play. We went to the stage door afterwards and met some of the cast which was lovely. Ben was truly star struck and said “meeting celebrities on my birthday is just amazing”. In his eyes they were A list celebrities and it made his day end perfectly.

I do think it is lovely when people like these actors and actresses take time out of their evening to chat to kids like Ben. It is so nice and makes it so personal hearing them chat and seeing how different they are to their characters! Ben now has most of their autographs and I know he will treasure them.

Ben also recieved a lovely cake on his birthday (which due to being rather full after Cosmo didn’t get sampled on the day itself. It was sent over from www.bakerdays.co.uk. It was one of their letterbox cakes which are small and packaged perfectly so they fit through your letterbox safely! I must say I was dubious about this idea but Ben’s arrived in perfect condition and the fact it was personalised really topped it off.

The day after Ben’s birthday was Children in Need so the day started with wearing a Pudsey onesie to school, buying cakes to raise money with his friends and various activities throughout the day. Ben came home excited to play on his new game he had hardly played on due to the busy evening before and get ready for a family birthday meal out!

For tea we had a meal with my mum, step dad, brother and his family and sister and her family. A total of 13 of us, we enjoyed a filling meal and desserts before Ben blew his candles on his birthday cake out (another cake this time!). Again all too full that cake is still waiting to be cut up and distributed between family etc! It was a meal for my brother’s birthday too so involved lots of presents and chatting. All the kids were good yet somehow Ben fell head first off the slide and bashed his thigh?! He now has a nice bruise to show for it!

The evening ended with popping over to see Stuart’s sister and her family and cutting the Bakerdays cake at long last! That was last night and I still haven’t tried any but I am assured by those who did it was very tasty and good quality. Why am I telling you this you wonder?? Because I have a giveaway for a personalised Letterbox Christmas cake starting and I know that this will have made your mouth water and want to enter!!
