Guest Post – 5 Gluten and Lactose Free Slimming World Recipes

I know many of my readers have asked previously about allergies and free from recipes, well this isn’t really my forte so I asked a blogging friend for their help. Jenna is great with all things gluten free and shares here some of her favourite recipes which are Slimming World friendly.

Hi, I’m Jenna Farmer and I blog everything gluten-free and gut health over at If you’re looking for gluten-free recipes or tips on living with a gut health condition like IBS or IBD (I myself have Crohn’s), then head on over!

Today, I’m going to sharing five of my recipes; which, as well as being gluten and dairy-free, are full of goodness are also perfect for those on Slimming World!

1. Gut Rest and Repair Soup (syn free)

When I have one of those days where my gut just needs a rest (whether it’s due to a flare-up or simply too much indulgence), this is my go-to recipe. A combination of easy to digest veggies, chicken broth, turmeric, ginger and almond milk; this soup is super comforting and helps give the digestive system a break!

2. Slow Cooker Gluten and Dairy Free Turkey Stew (syn free)

Slow cooker dishes are one of the easiest things to make gluten-free, but you don’t need expensive packet mixes. This stew uses turmeric, paprika, cinnamon and ginger to give it a spicy kick and adds sweet potato and turmeric to get your five-a-day! Perfect for a cold winter’s day when you need something stodgy!

3.Chicken Turmeric Thai Curry (3.5 syns per portion)*

*if using reduced fat coconut milk and olive oil frylight instead of standard oil and spraying not pouring!

I love Thai food and turmeric is a bit of a gut superfood (hence why it’s in so many of my recipes!) as it is known to help with inflammation. This recipe only uses a small amount of coconut milk, making it a lower fat choice than many thai recipes and it’s packed full of flavour!

4.Gluten-free Calzones (2 syns per calzone)

This is one of my favourite recipes to make as a snack-and they’re great for kids lunchboxes too! I use Old El Paso’s gluten-free corn tortilla wraps (what a blessing!); which are the perfect size for mini-calzones. The filling possibilities are endless:I make with goat’s cheese as I can tolerate than but you can also use lactose-free cheese too (both can be your HexA)

5. Fish Pie (syn free)

This was one of the first recipes I made when going gluten-free; and I’ve returned to it many times since! This recipe swaps some of the potatoes with sweet potato and speed foods carrots and tomatoes and a splash of almond milk is all that’s needed to make it creamy. Again, I’ll sometimes make this with goat’s cheese, but it tastes just as delicious without!
