Domestic Abuse – The women who didn’t make it.

As many of you know from previous posts I have been in abusive relationships in the past and survived. Not all women do unfortunately. Last week I was lucky enough to see the Women’s quilt. If you have not heard of this it is a project started by Roxanne Ellis. The quilt has a patch for every woman who were killed by a partner or former partner between 2009 and 2015. How many women would you guess would have been killed in this way in the UK during those 6 years? If I told you it averaged one a week you would be shocked wouldn’t you?

10 ways to lift your mood in just 5 minutes!

Regular readers of my blog will know I am very open that I suffer from depression. I have struggled with it for a number of years now and whilst it isn’t always easy to lift your mood permanently sometimes lifting it a little for even just five minutes can help you cope with the day. I am a great believer that depression is as important a problem as any physical health problem. If you had constant pain and could take it away for just 5 minutes a day of course you would so why not try and lift your mood for a little too.

You are not worthless
At this time of year with the dark afternoons and cold weather along with the family times and expense of Christmas, many people struggle with feeling worthless. I know this because I have been there too. As I have shared previously many times I suffer with depression and also have been in abusive relationships in the past. Both of these have led me to often feel worthless, especially at this time of year when our emotions can often be heightened. Do you feel like this? Do you know someone who does?

DNA isn’t all that – my latest discovery!
I know some of you may have read a previous post I wrote about my father but if you haven’t and you want to read it then you can find it here “Accepting Father’s Day is not for me and my Dad”. It shares what my feelings were around Father’s day when I was thinking about my relationship with my father.
