So now were in 2016, and people across the world are making new years resolutions and planning to change their lives this year. Whether it be stopping smoking, getting fit, losing weight, learning to drive, learning to swim, be more caring to others, change jobs, or something else a huge majority of people go into February or March having given up already! I am also like this and often have given up mine! In recent weeks I have been asked many times what made me stick to it and how I would advise someone else to keep going in their new years resolution! I am by no means an expert, the exercise bike I use as a clothes horse is proof of that!! However in 2014 my resolutions were to lose weight, get fit, be more positive about myself and end my abusive marriage, I didn’t get fit but managed the rest so I am happy with that! So here is my words of wisdom for anyone who thinks they may help them!!

I have been asked many times for my favourite recipes in a blog post so here are some for you! Please remember that it is your responsibility to check syn values as these can change over time along with healthy extras if following the Slimming World plan. These recipes are not always the complete meal and sometimes are served with other things so do remember to check you have the right proportions on your plate for the best losses, if in doubt ask your Slimming World Consultant! A lot of the recipes include garlic which I often substitute for “Lazy Garlic” for convenience, I use the variety in vinegar so it is syn free but please check yours.

Hello! It is now only a week until Christmas and I expect everyone is too busy to read much so I will try to keep it brief! This is the time of year where many people decide to go “off plan” and start again in the new year. While this is a personal decision, my advice would be to stay on plan the best you can otherwise when you get on the scales in the new year the task will seem more daunting if you have gained a lot! Why not have a day or two off plan and the rest of the time try to be as good as you can and sensible when you cant to minimise the task ahead in January! The choice of course is yours! I intend to stay on plan pretty much all over Christmas though with the odd extra maybe if we go out anywhere.

“Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me”

We all know that rhyme from our school days don’t we? It is often told to children to encourage them not to retaliate and get upset when called names at school, the reality though of course as we all know is that names do hurt. I doubt there is anyone out there who hasn’t been called a negative name at some point in their life, usually in childhood, because of the colour of your hair, your height, your weight, wearing glasses and many other reasons. Most name calling is predominantly done by children to children however this is not always the case.

Hello again, here we are on Friday with my roundup of my favourites this week! It has been a bit of a hectic week here as I have had Ben off school unwell for two days, appointments etc and of course all the usual things to do! I still have not ventured into the garage for the Christmas tree and only decided this morning what to wear for a Christmas party I am going to tonight! Clearly organisation this week has not been my strong point!

I think this is a subject I will be revisiting many times throughout my blog because this is something I find hard myself though I will share with you all how it is for me and anything I have found helpful and tips I have had from others in the hope that others find this process easier!
When you have been overweight or obese for so long and you lose a lot of weight it is extremely hard, I have found, to recognise yourself as the size you are and the person you have become. I believe that this is a process everyone struggles with to some extent though I think the bigger the amount of weight you lose the more your appearance changes and as such the harder this is. Please do not take this to mean I do not respect that it is hard for everyone as I know it must be but I only have my experiences to go by.

So, I keep being asked the same question, what do I eat, not just over one day, but over one week! So due to popular demand I have written you all an average weeks food for me day by day! Please do remember though that everyone is different and as such the way we all deal with food is different. What one person eats and looses 3lb on may make another person lose 7lb and another person maintain because we all have different metabolisms and the quantities and proportions we all eat will differ too!
