What Each Sky Lagoon Package Includes
Sky Lagoon in Reykjavik sells two main admission tiers, and the difference between them comes down to more than just a robe and a towel. If you’re trying to decide which one is worth the extra krona, it helps to know exactly what’s included in each before you get to the check-in desk. Here’s a breakdown of what comes with every package at the Sky Lagoon.

Saman: The Base Package
Saman is the standard entry ticket and covers the essentials without any of the add-ons. It includes admission to the lagoon itself, access to the full Seven Step Ritual, and use of a towel during your visit. You also get access to the changing facilities, including private changing rooms with showers.
What Saman does not include is a robe. This matters more than it sounds like it would, since you’ll be walking between the changing area, the ritual stations, and the outdoor lagoon multiple times, often in cold or wet weather. Without a robe, you’re doing that in a swimsuit alone, which some guests find perfectly fine and others find a bit much in the middle of winter.
Saman also does not include in-water drink service or food. Anything you want to eat or drink at the swim-up bar gets added separately, paid for with a wristband that tracks charges to your locker key.
Sér: The Premium Package
Sér builds on everything in Saman and adds a private changing suite instead of the shared locker room setup. This means your own small room with a shower, rather than a communal changing area, which is a real difference if you value privacy or are traveling with family.
Sér also includes a robe for use during your visit, which solves the cold-walk problem mentioned above. You still move through the same Seven Step Ritual and swim in the same lagoon as Saman guests, since the actual facilities aren’t segregated by ticket type. The upgrade is about comfort and privacy in the changing process, not a different lagoon experience.
Pricing for Sér runs higher than Saman, typically by several thousand krona depending on the season and how far in advance you book. For travelers who want fewer shared spaces and don’t mind paying for it, Sér is generally considered the better package since the private suite and robe combination removes most of the small frictions that come with the base ticket. There’s also a Sky Lagoon package deal available for Sér if you want to plan a date night with your significant other.
The Seven Step Ritual, Included in Both
Regardless of which package you choose, the Seven Step Ritual comes standard. This is Sky Lagoon’s signature wellness sequence, modeled loosely on traditional Icelandic bathing culture, and it moves you through the lagoon, a cold plunge, a sauna with ocean views, a cold fog inhalation area, a body scrub application, a steam room, and a final rinse.
The scrub used in the ritual, called Sky Body Scrub, is included at no extra charge in every package. You apply it during the steam room step, and it’s designed to exfoliate and hydrate skin after the heat and cold exposure. Guests who want to buy additional scrub to take home can do so separately in the gift shop, but the amount provided during the ritual itself is included regardless of ticket type.
What’s Never Included, No Matter the Package
Food and drinks beyond what you purchase at the swim-up bar are not part of either package. Sky Lagoon operates a restaurant called Smakk Bar on site, along with the Keimur Café, and both require separate payment. Alcoholic drinks at the in-water bar, including beer and wine, are available to purchase with your wristband but are not bundled into Saman or Sér pricing.
Transportation to and from the lagoon is also excluded from both packages by default, though Sky Lagoon does offer optional shuttle bus add-ons from central Reykjavik that can be booked alongside admission. Towel rental is included, but items like swimsuit rental, if you forget your own, come at an additional cost at the front desk.
Choosing Between Saman and Sér
The decision mostly comes down to how much you value a private changing space and a robe. If you’re visiting solo, comfortable with communal locker rooms, and want to keep costs down, Saman covers what you actually need for the full ritual and lagoon experience. If you’re visiting as a couple, with family, or simply prefer not to navigate a shared changing area in a swimsuit, Sér removes that friction for a moderate price increase.
Either way, the core experience, the lagoon itself, the seven-step sequence, and the ocean views from the infinity edge, stays identical. The package choice affects logistics and comfort, not the substance of the visit.
Before booking, check the current season’s pricing directly on Sky Lagoon’s site, since rates shift between summer and winter and advance booking often comes with a small discount over walk-up pricing. Knowing exactly what each tier covers ahead of time means you won’t be caught off guard by an unexpected charge at the wristband station.
