Bracelets: If your budget isn’t quite as big as your love for your mum, why not opt for a bracelet that gifts love, kindness and meaning instead? The Mayalu bracelet from Sherpa is handcrafted in Nepal, giving flexible employment for many local mums who otherwise would not be able to work. It features an ‘Endless Knot’ which symbolises Buddha’s infinite wisdom and compassion and is inspired by stunning Nepali colours and culture. And as Sherpa Adventure Gear donate a school day for every bracelet bought, you’ll be helping the next generation too.
4. Food and Drinks
Because what better way to show your love than with taste bud-tempting treats?
A Box of Luxury Chocolates: Always a classic, you can’t go wrong with a beautifully packaged box of indulgent chocolates. I tried these out and can promise you they are amazing and definitely worth the buy. If you are buying for a chocolate-loving mum and want something a bit different to the usual supermarket box, then these are perfect. This box is £34.95 from House of Bruar.
Japanese Snack Box: For the mum who loves exploring unique flavours, this is a snack adventure straight from Japan. With two amazing Japanese snack boxes I have tried you can’t go wrong with either, there is the Tokyo Treat box with limited edition Japanese treats you will love them! If you prefer to buy her more traditional snacks then the Sakura box might be netter for you, take a look.
Vegan Chocolate: Perfect for vegan mums or anyone who appreciates plant-based options that don’t skimp on taste. PLAYinCHOC is a lovely brand I think she will love.
Selection of Drinks (Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic): Surprise her with a selection of canned cocktails, mocktails, or sparkling soft drinks. Betty Booze is a range of three sparkling cocktails made from the freshest fruits, spices, herbs and and is premium spirits. The Betty Buzz range is made with fresh ingredients, free from artificial preservatives, sweeteners, colours and flavours. All are available from Amazon and you can buy as many or as few as you wish depending on your budget!
A Bottle of Gin: If she loves gin, then I would definitely recommend a nice bottle of something new. This Ramsbury Raspberry and Wildflower honey gin is lovely and definitely one I would recommend. It is from Master of Malt and well worth the £33.05.
5. Self-care gifts
Motherhood is beautiful, exhausting, and emotional. Show your support for a mum in your life with thoughtful gifts like:
A Dopamine Gift Box: This can be given to someone as a gift that keeps on giving, either through a subscription or as a one-off box! Each box includes a gorgeous selection of items which are mood-boosting in different ways – helping to soothe, stimulate, ground and inspire as needed. Great for anyone with a busy brain, and particularly women with ADHD. The box is £44 as a one-off, or a six-month subscription works out as £37.50 a box and includes some extras too!
This box is an example, your mum could get different items. I personally think it is amazing. I definitely have traits of ADHD (no desire at the moment to seek a diagnosis) and found this one-off box to be full of so many amazing things I am thinking of subscribing!
A Journal: A thoughtful journal gives her a space to jot down her thoughts, plans, or dreams. You could even add a personal note inside the cover to get her started. This one is available in a few different colours and lined or plain pages, also it is lovely soft leather. It can also be personalised if you choose. It also comes in a lovely gift box. This journal is £38.50 without personalisation, and with personalisation it is from an additional £5 for initials up to £19.99 for 2 lines embossed in gold or silver colour. Buy it directly from Pen Heaven.
Collagen supplements: Is your mum keen on nutrition and her health? Collagen supplements have become more and more popular recently and may be the perfect gift. These are two of the selection available from Nourished but there are others available if these aren’t quite right. They are vegetarian and even if she is menopausal there are some perfect for her. Check the Nourished website for the full selection to see which to buy your mum. There are also subscriptions available if you prefer to buy a gift that keeps giving all year!
6. Hamper Gifts
Hampers filled with curated goodies are a brilliant option. They cover all the bases, leaving mums feeling wonderfully spoiled. Here I have three very different hampers to share with you.
Top Hampers’ Mum Hamper: Packed with goodies for every kind of mum, from skincare and chocolates to teas and candles. The hampers from Top Hampers are full of lovely gifts but if none of the prepared hampers quite fit what you are looking for you can request a personalised hamper. This would be perfect, I imagine, for people who want to avoid skincare products, for example. This is a custom hamper but most like the “Mum’s Serene Escape hamper”.
Gin & Tonic Hamper: For a gin-loving mum you could buy her this lovely gin and tonic hamper from Hampers which includes a 35cl bottle of Hendricks Gin, two bottles of tonic and some tasty snacks she can enjoy too. It is £55 and one of a range of lovely Mother’s day hampers such as afternoon tea, chocolate, and champagne hampers!
New Mum and Baby Hamper: These hampers often include items for both mum and baby. This lovely hamper from The British Hamper Company is a perfect mixture of gifts for the mum and the baby. I love the way everything all matches so beautifully. This particular hamper is called “Welcome to the world baby hamper” and is £77.97. If this isn’t quite right for your gift then there are other hampers available that might.
7. Something Funny
If humour is the way to her heart, a quirky present will brighten her day:
Rude and Funny Mugs: If you didn’t see my Mr Inappropriate review you are missing out, it is a hilarious online shop full of funny and rude gifts you will love! The below mugs are just two of the range available so if these tickle you, even if they aren’t quite right then take a look at Mr Inappropriate and see what you like the look of for mum. Be sure to use my link for a 25% discount too!
8. Flowers and a Vase
You can rarely go wrong with gorgeous blooms. Improve on the traditional bouquet by pairing it with a unique vase she can reuse. For a twist, why not gift her Lego Flowers? They’ll never wilt and are a fun project to assemble.
Vase: This vase from JD Williams is a lovely teal colour (my favourite colour!) and much bigger than it looks. Perfect for any flowers she loves, especially artificial ones like I popped in for this photo! The vase is just £12 which I think is quite a bargain!
Lego flowers: I love Lego flowers and have most of the sets now! They are so much fun to build and also look good and never die, a bonus I think! Check the range out and buy your mum some!
9. For the Mum Who Loves to Cook
Some mums find joy in whipping up delicious creations in the kitchen. If that sounds like her, she’ll love these picks:
Stand Mixer: A game-changer for keen bakers, making cakes, bread, or cookies will feel effortless. Does mum love cooking but not have a stand mixer yet? She will love this one and you will soon find she doesn’t bake without using it! Check it out on the Swan Website for £79.99.
Apron for Baking: If your mum loves baking then how about a new apron? This is one of the range from Terrys Fabrics and is less than £10 at the moment!
A Griddle Pan: Perfect for cooking up anything from steaks to grilled veggies. If your mum prefers savoury cooking to baking then how about some new cookware? This grill pan would make a lovely gift for her. It is suitable for induction hobs too. Check it out from BergHOFF for £69.
10. Something for her to do
A Book of Everything for ADHD Women or Those Who Find Getting Organised Difficult. (Trust me, it’s actually relatable for more people than they realise!). The book of everything is amazing and is like a journal, planner and brain dump all in one! For £44 The Book of Everything will save her from having lots of books and journals with lots of different lists and plans in and instead have one useful space for it all! I am already loving mine!
Jigsaws: I love doing jigsaws but find some are really poor quality or the pictures inaccurate (Tetris jigsaw I am looking at you!). These jigsaws are like a total breath of fresh air. Good quality and stunning pictures they are absolutely perfect gifts for a jigsaw lover.
Wentworth Puzzles – These are stunning wooden puzzles which are different from any other jigsaws out there. They have unique whimsical pieces and are harder than they look! That said, their thick wooden pieces mean they will last forever (pretty much!) and can be completed again and again. This Tiered Treats puzzle is perfect for Mother’s Day and contains 120 pieces for £23.50.
The Rising Above the Rio Grande puzzle (pictured below) is available in 40 pieces as shown for £10.50 up to 1500 pieces for £196.
Jam Contemporary Art jigsaws – If she lives in Dartmoor or loves the area, then these jigsaws are perfect as they feature birds/butterflies from Dartmoor! I can’t wait to start the butterfly puzzle when I have finished my current puzzle (a boring one I bought from Amazon!). These jigsaws are £22 each from Jam Contemporary Art.
Books: If mum loves a good book then these two from Elizabeth Ducie are amazing. She has such a great way of writing and I am sure your mum would love them. Pop over to her selection on Amazon and see what you might like to buy your mum.
11. For the Mum Who Has Everything
For the mum who already has more than enough socks, candles, and scarves, these standout gifts will surprise her:
Prezzee Gift Voucher: When in doubt, this gives her the flexibility to choose exactly what she loves, from fashion to dining. The Prezzee gift voucher can be anything she wants it to be!
A Teasmade: Who wouldn’t want to wake up to the smell of freshly brewed tea without lifting a finger? If your mum woudl love a Teasmade then check out Swan for this lovely Teasmade at £89.99.
Cards
Don’t forget your mum’s card. The thought in writing her a card will mean more than spending a fortune on a gift, especially if she knows you don’t have much money. These two funny cards are from the Mr. Inappropriate website. Use the code JENMELLOR at checkout and get 25% off your order.
The below cards are all from Danilo, who make some amazing cards, whether you want a soppy sentimental one or a cartoon one there is something for everyone.
Thoughtful Finishing Touches
No matter which gift you pick, don’t forget that the thought really does count. Add a handwritten card to share your love and appreciation. You could even organise breakfast in bed with her favourite pastries and coffee to kick off the day in style.
With this guide, you’re sure to find something that feels just right for the mum in your life. Now the big question is, what will you pick? Mother’s Day only comes around once a year, so make it count!
