GreatBeanBags Monster Bean Bag: A Review

Finding furniture for a teenager’s room is a challenge. You need something that is cool, comfortable, and can survive, well, being used by a teenager. My son, Ben, is 19 and just over 6 feet tall. His bedroom is his sanctuary, a place where he can game, read, and unwind. We needed a seating solution that was more than just a chair; we needed something that could match his size and his need for ultimate comfort.
I was offered an item from Giant Bean Bags to review. The idea was promising. A piece of furniture that moulds to you, no matter your size? Perfect. I saw the Faux Fur Monster Bean Bag, and it sounded perfect. We decided to take the plunge and ordered the “Huge” size in Panther Black, a long-pile faux fur.
The Arrival: Unboxing
When the delivery arrived, I knew we were in for a treat. The monster bean bag came in two massive boxes. One contained the folded faux fur cover and some bags of beans, and the other held more bags of the bean filling. Now, the website does mention that the “Huge” size requires some self-assembly, and they are not kidding. The filling comes in several large, netted bags. This is actually a brilliant idea. It prevents the classic bean bag disaster of millions of tiny polystyrene balls creating a snowstorm in your living room.
Getting the netted bags of filling into the outer cover was a bit of a workout. My tip is to have one person hold the cover open while the other person pushes the filling bags deep inside. Once zipped up, the monster was born.
The first thing that struck us was the sheer size of it. This isn’t just a large bean bag chair; it’s huge. It took up a significant corner of Ben’s room, instantly creating a dedicated relaxation zone. The dimensions on the website (130cm x 130cm x 90cm) are for the flat cover, so when it’s filled, it becomes a colossal, fluffy mound. As you can see from my photos, knowing Ben is just over 6ft, you can see just how big it is!
First Impressions
The real test, of course, was sitting in it. Ben didn’t just sit on it; he sank into it. The beans shifted and moulded around him, creating a perfect, supportive nest. “This is amazing,” was his simple yet powerful verdict.
I had to try it for myself. Getting into it is an experience. You don’t just sit; you commit. I lowered myself down, and the Faux Fur Monster Bean Bag enveloped me. The long-pile faux fur is incredibly soft and luxurious. It feels like being hugged by a giant, friendly bear.
One of the biggest wins is that it is genuinely big enough for a tall adult. Ben can curl up, lie down, or sit cross-legged with his gaming controller. This giant bean bag is just so comfortable I don’t think he will ever live without it.
Quality, Durability, and Maintenance
When you’re investing in a piece of furniture, especially for a teenager, you want it to last. I was really impressed with the quality of the GreatBeanBags product.
Fabric and Stitching
The Panther Black faux fur is beautiful. It has a slight sheen and is exceptionally soft to the touch. The website warns that long-pile furs can shed a little at first, and we did notice a few stray fibres in the first couple of days. The fabric feels thick and durable.
I gave all the seams a good inspection. The stitching is heavy-duty, and the monster bean bag has two zips for safety, so there is no chance of escaping beans. This is a great feature that all bean bags should come with!
The Filling
The bean filling itself is what makes this bean bag chair so comfortable. It’s made of small polystyrene beads that move freely to contour to your body. Over time, all bean bags will compress a little. The fact that the filling comes in separate bags is a huge advantage. It will make it much easier to top up the filling in the future without having to buy a whole new beanbag. You can simply add another bag or buy some loose beans to refresh it. This design choice really adds to the long-term value of the product.
Monster Bean Bag in Ben’s Room
From a parent’s perspective, it’s surprisingly practical. Despite its size, it’s relatively lightweight. We can easily move it onto his bed for cleaning or if we need to rearrange things.
The only “downside,” if you can call it that, is its size. You need to have the space for it. This is not a bean bag you can tuck away in a small corner. You need to measure your room and be prepared for it to be a dominant piece of furniture. For us, this was a plus. We wanted something substantial. But if you’re in a smaller house or a tiny university room, you might want to consider their “Mini Monster” size instead.

The Faux Fur Monster Bean Bag from GreatBeanBags is a fantastic product. It’s comfortable, well-made, and stylish. It has transformed Ben’s room into a more comfortable and inviting space. The quality of the materials and the thoughtful design, like the separate filling bags, suggest it will last for years to come.
It’s more than just a bean bag; it’s a piece of lifestyle furniture. It’s a place for quiet moments with a book and for loud, laughter-filled evenings with friends. Watching my 6-foot-tall son look small and cosy in his new favourite spot is all the proof I need. If you have the space and are looking for the ultimate in comfortable, casual seating, I cannot recommend this giant bean bag enough.
