An In-Depth Review of the EZVIZ H8 Pro Security Camera

In today’s digital age, home security has become necessity rather than a mere luxury. With the rise in smart home technology, ensuring the safety and security of our homes has never been more accessible or essential. Here I review the EZVIZ H8 Pro, a state-of-the-art security camera designed to bring peace of mind to homeowners and tech enthusiasts alike.

The EZVIZ H8 Pro is a Pan/tilt and Zoom security camera suitable for all weathers and from the popular EZVIZ brand. I have another EZVIZ security camera (the C8C) and also an H6C indoor camera by EZVIZ and would highly recommend them to anyone who is a little unsure about buying their first security camera.

EZVIZ H8 Pro Review

Easy Installation

One of the standout features of the EZVIZ H8 Pro is its user-friendly installation process. Whether you’re a tech novice or a seasoned pro, setting up this camera is an absolute breeze. The camera comes with clear instructions, all you need is a ladder (if putting the camera high up which I advise), a long drill bit suitable for your walls, and maybe 30 minutes of free time.

Ethernet Connectivity for Increased Stability

While many security cameras rely solely on Wi-Fi, the EZVIZ H8 Pro takes it a step further by offering Ethernet connectivity in addition. This feature ensures a more stable and reliable connection, reducing the risk of interruptions that could compromise your home’s security. For those who value consistency and reliability, this is a game-changer.

If your camera isn’t going to be located near your router then I recommend Powerline Adapters. We use the TP Link Powerline Adapters which are easy to set up and make getting good stable internet throughout the house so easy.

Picture Quality

The EZVIZ H8 Pro boasts exceptional picture quality, providing clear and crisp images regardless of the time of day. Its high-resolution capabilities ensure that you won’t miss a single detail, whether it’s a package delivery or an unexpected visitor. The night vision feature is particularly impressive, offering clarity even in low-light conditions. There are options to have full colour night vision, or the option I choose which is black and white switching to full colour when motion is detected. The below picture shows the night vision as you can see at 3.55am, the lines across the screen are just as the rain showed up, it was heavy rain at that point!

Motion Tracking

Gone are the days when security cameras could only offer static surveillance and had blind spots where you could have your home broken into as the camera didn’t cover that area! The EZVIZ H8 Pro has intelligent motion tracking, meaning it can follow any movement within its field of view. This dynamic feature ensures that you have amazing coverage of any activity happening around your home.

App Usability

The EZVIZ app is easy to use with a clean and user-friendly interface, managing your security camera has never been easier. You can access live feeds, review recorded footage, and receive instant notifications of any activity, all from your smartphone.

Our thoughts

I love the camera and it provides a great peace of mind when away on holiday or worrying about people hanging around, especially after some recent car thefts in my estate. In one night 4 high end cars were stolen, no keys were needed and all were taken off drives and their trackers stopped working at the end of the road! The police said it was an organised gang and the cars were all seen on the back of trailers leaving the area within minutes. Would a camera like this deter someone like this? It sure is worth a try!

Comparison with Alternatives

When comparing the EZVIZ H8 Pro to other DIY security cameras on the market, several unique selling points stand out:

  • Stability: The option for Ethernet connectivity sets it apart in terms of reliability.
  • Motion Tracking: While many cameras offer motion detection, the ability for the camera to follow movement is a rare and valuable feature.
  • Ease of Use: From installation to daily management, the EZVIZ H8 Pro is designed with the user in mind. the app is so easy to use both for Android and Apple devices and we have had no problems at all using it.
  • Easily wired in: Not using batteries but being wired in with a simple hole through the wall is a perfect way to ensure it works continuously without having to climb up and change batteries!

Benefits for Homeowners and Tech Enthusiasts

For Homeowners

The EZVIZ H8 Pro ensures that your property is always under watchful eyes, providing real-time alerts and high-quality footage that can be crucial in preventing or addressing incidents. Its ease of installation and use means that you don’t have to be a tech wizard to keep your home safe.

For Tech Enthusiasts

For those who love diving into the latest gadgets, the EZVIZ H8 Pro offers exciting features like intelligent motion tracking and seamless app integration. It’s a perfect addition to any smart home setup, enhancing both security and technological sophistication.

Cost of the EZVIZ H8 Pro

When you look at some home security systems the cost can easily fall into the thousands with fitting and monitors. I love the ease of being able to fit as many or as few cameras as you need simply yourself (or with a handyman if like me you don’t like ladders!) and then viewing the footage on your phone!

For around £110 you can buy this camera and have so much more peace of mind when away from home, I highly recommend it!

Conclusion

In summary, the EZVIZ H8 Pro is great with top of the range security features and user-friendly accessibility. Its easy installation, reliable Ethernet connectivity, superior picture quality, motion tracking, and intuitive app make it a standout choice for anyone looking to enhance their home security.

The cost is also definitely a plus point as you can get a good quality camera at a reasonable price. The app storage does cost a little but from £2.99 a month you can ensure you can always save and download anything needed.

Extra Note: We installed this camera in the same place as the previous camera we reviewed the EZVIZ C8C and moved that to the back garden, check out that review if you want to see the same view of our drive with the different camera to see the difference in quality but also how good that one is still.
