When I was offered this smoothie blender to review I knew Ben would be impressed. He was keen to get me blending him up a milkshake and have a go at creating something himself.

The Hamswan Personal Blender is available directly from Amazon which makes things easy as everyone has used Amazon before haven’t they?

As you can see in the above photo the personal blender is the perfect size to make one smoothie at a time. The box includes instructions, and two travel pots (one 600ml and one 300ml). It came well packaged and arrived easily as with all items from Amazon.

The first recipe I tried it with was a BBQ sauce. I made the recipe I usually make but then blended it into a smooth sauce.

The ingredients (below) were all added to the blender and blended until smooth.

400g Chopped Tomatoes
1 Red Onion (diced)
5 tbsp. Henderson’s Relish
3 tbsp. Balsamic Vinegar
2 Cloves garlic (crushed)
3 tbsp. Sweetener
1 tsp. Mustard Powder

The personal blender did a good job of blending these though it did take some time. The blender can not be used for more than one minute at a time according to the instructions.

The next thing I used the personal blender for was to make a banana milkshake smoothie for Ben.

It was so easy I made it by blending three very ripe bananas, a tablespoon of choc shot, and 4 scoops of Carte D’or low-fat ice cream. This made the smoothie more healthy than some options available but just as tasty. If it is too thick for you it is easy to just add a little milk.

It blended up really well and quickly so I wasn’t concerned about timing to be sure not to use it for more than 60 seconds at a time.

The third thing I made was a smoothie using a pack bought from my local supermarket. I bought a frozen pack which included oats, papaya, and banana.

I lost track of the time blending it and soon realised why the instruction stated no more than 60 seconds at a time.

The blender started smoking from the base. I hadn’t used it for much more than 60 seconds just long enough to blend the mixture well.

Overall I thought it was a nice little blender. The brand replaced the blender for me that had smoked as I was concerned about using it again.

I was aghast that a blender would have this restriction however it apparently is common in small personal blenders like this. I guess once you know to be careful and use it for short bursts of 60 seconds only it would be ok.

The blender is £29.99 which I feel is around the average price for a smoothie blender of this kind. I have seen cheaper ones and more expensive ones. If you wish to go and order one pop over to Amazon to have a look at the Hamswan Personal Blender.

An alternative to the Hamswan blender might be the Ninja Nutri Slim Blender and Smoothie Maker.
