What are STEM toys and why do kids need them?

STEM toys are a type of educational toy that focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These toys are designed to help children learn about these core subjects in a fun and engaging way.

Why should children play with STEM toys?

There are many reasons why STEM toys are suitable for children of all ages from toddlers to teenagers.

STEM toys can help younger children to develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. They can also learn about cause and effect, such as how pushing a button on a toy can make something happen. As children get older, they can start to learn more complex concepts, such as coding, robotics, and engineering.

STEM toys encourage children to learn in a hands-on way, which is often more effective than simply reading from a textbook.

Additionally, STEM toys can be used to help bridge the gender gap in the fields of science and technology.

By introducing girls to STEM toys at a young age, they may be more likely to pursue careers in these fields.

STEM toys can help prepare children for the future. As technology continues to advance, STEM skills are becoming increasingly important in many fields.

By developing these skills at a young age, children can be better prepared for the job market and for life in general.

STEM toys for children of all ages

One brand that knows the importance of STEM toys is Geomag. In 1998 this Swiss toy company invented and patented the first magnetic construction system.

Since then their range of products has grown and is known all over the world. Their products are suitable for children of all ages and can be played both in the classroom and at home.

Many of their products are made from recycled materials and their main aim is that children can learn through play.

Some of their products and product ranges are as follows:

Magicubes

Magicubes are a great toy to introduce little ones to the world of STEM. Each cube has a hidden magnet that will connect to the other Magicubes in the set no matter which way they are connected.

The blocks are bright in colour and big enough for little hands to hold.

There are many sets in the range and all are compatible with each other so you can build a collection and your little ones can make whatever they like.

Two perfect sets you could consider of these are:

Geomag Magicube 1+ Shapes-Magnetic Blocks for Kids, 9 Pieces

Geomag Magicube 153 – Full Color, Magnetic Constructions, 16 Cubes

Mechanics

Geomag Mechanics is a range of products aimed at older children. This range of toys is designed to help children learn how things work via the use of magnets and motors.

Kids can learn about Motion and Gravity. You can buy individual sets and build them separately or use multiple sets to build even bigger tracks.

These sets are aimed at children aged 7 and over.

These two sets would be great buys in this range.

Geomag 771 Mechanics Challenge 95 Pieces Multicoloured

The Geomag Classic range is made up of a number of different Geomag products including Classic, Panels, Supercolor, Glitter, Glow, and E-Motion.

I don’t have any of the toys, but the brand is not new to me. In fact, I have heard many good things about it, and have seen it many houses that my kids visit for play dates.

I would really want to win this for my kids, so they can understand how magnets work, improve the problem-solving, and it is also a great insight to engineering and architecture. I would also like them to release their creative side.
