Midweek Catch up 14/01/2026
Hello, and huge apologies that this is my first catch-up of 2026, but things have been busy. I will be back with them regularly again now, and I have so much to share! Grab a cuppa and have a read!

Health
Since my last update around a month ago, I have wanted to share a few things, but I just haven’t had the chance. I guess sometimes it is so easy to keep busy, to pretend you don’t have things happening, isn’t it?
Menopause
I think I have talked previously about the issues I have had with my cycles over the years and the suggestion that I may have endometriosis or a similar condition. Well, that is all still quite up in the air with no official label, but in October, I was put back on the GNRH analogues that put me into medical menopause. I have talked about it in depth before, including how it affected me. Last time I was on the injections, they made me lactose intolerant, and until recently, they hadn’t this time. However, last weekend those familiar pains came back, and I realised that again I have become lactose intolerant with absolute agony if I eat or drink anything dairy!
Mental health
My mental health isn’t too bad just lately, but I have been referred for more support, which I am really hoping helps. Sometimes I wonder if maybe I am destined to just spend the rest of my life struggling with my mental health. It is hard, isn’t it? Does anyone else wonder the same? Maybe it is a common feeling for people with mental health issues?
Weight Loss
I am back well and truly on the weight loss wagon now and will try to remember to update you all every week. This week, my first week, I have lost 7.5lb, which is blooming amazing! A whole half a stone. I know I have a lot more I want to lose, but it is a nice start. I am determined to fit into my wedding dress and feel amazing! June 2027 will soon come around!
Life
January seems to last so long, so life has just been busy. Ben is still recovering from his operation last October, which is tough for us all, but especially for him.
We have started planning our holiday for this year, so I will keep you updated. We are thinking of another driving holiday. Last year we drove to Mallorca and the year before to Portugal, so where will we drive this year?
This week, Stuart and I are going on a date night to a murder mystery event! I am so excited!
Wedding Planning
I am really enjoying wedding planning, but everything is so expensive, isn’t it? Do you have anything to share that made your wedding perfect that you think we definitely should include? Or perhaps you wish you hadn’t wasted money on something. Let me know anything you think I should know in the comments below. I am determined to make everything very different to when I married my abusive ex-husband, but to be honest, I can’t imagine anything would be similar, as he was a nightmare, and frankly, nothing could be that horrendous!
Christmas and New Year
We had a lovely Christmas and New Year, and I hope you did too. We probably ate far too much, but doesn’t everyone? I got lots of books for Christmas, so I am enjoying working my way through those and pretending I don’t have a huge shelf of books in the spare room I haven’t read yet! Also, look at this gin I got!
Book Reviews
I have read a lot of books in the last month, so I won’t share too much about each, but I’ll just give a brief score and a few words. I will include links so that you can check them out if you wish.
