Now that the holiday season is coming, it’s the best time to start thinking about your holiday plans and with that, definitely plan out your wardrobe. Your holiday wardrobe, irrespective of where you are planning to go, be it mountains, beaches, or a city, should be comfortable, stylish and things that you would actually need.
I have travelled quite a lot and from my experience, I can say that your wardrobe should be functional and voguish. So, today in this stylist guide, I’ll hand over to you some of my personal tips on how to create a perfect holiday wardrobe including how to choose the right sunglasses frames to make you look complete.
Comfortable Fabrics are a must
Understand, it is very important that when you are packing for a holiday, comfort should be your priority. Without having clothes that you feel comfortable in, you won’t be able to take those long flights, and even train journeys can become a headache. So, choose fabrics that are breathable, easy to wear and lightweight.
Your options can be cotton, linen, and silk. These are the fabrics that keep you cool and best of all, they are easy to pack and maintain. Don’t waste your time and pack things that are tight or restrictive, as those will be uncomfortable on long days of sightseeing or lounging on the beach.
Plan your outfits
Avoid overpacking. You have to plan your outfits ahead of time so that you can avoid overpacking. This will make sure that you have everything sorted for your days. Also, take into consideration the activities that you have planned so that you can pack accordingly.
Let’s take an example to understand this better. So, if you are planning to spend a lot of time at the beach, basking under the sun, then pack swimsuits, cover-ups and comfortable sandals.
If you have plans of exploring a city, then pack comfortable shoes, lightweight tops and versatile bottoms that you can dress up or down.
Pack Versatile Pieces
Now it’s not important to carry a large number of outfits so that you can be versatile. You can maximise the number of outfits with a limited amount of clothing. The trick is to pack versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched.
Listing down a few for you to get an idea:
- A simple black dress can be dressed up or down
- A white blouse can be worn with jeans or a skirt
- A lightweight cardigan can be layered over a variety of outfits.
Just some of my own personal versatile outfit tricks.
Choose the Right Sunglasses Frames
Your wardrobe is incomplete without an essential accessory for holidays. The sunglasses will help and protect your eyes from the sun, and add to that the stylish touch they provide to any outfit.
Choosing the perfect sunglasses is a must and you have to consider your face shape and your personal style before picking one for your holidays.
Consider Rectangular Sunglasses
Now, why rectangular sunglasses you must be thinking? Well, rectangular sunglasses are one of the most versatile and timeless sunglasses that can be worn with a variety of dresses and outfits.
You can use the sunglasses with both casual, funky outfits and dressy, sophisticated ones. I always take rectangular sunglasses with polarised lenses, and I would recommend you to go for them. These glasses will give you maximum sun protection and then you can choose a frame colour that compliments your skin tone and personal style.
Some great options for rectangular sunglasses that I have used for years are:
- Classic Black frames
- Tortoiseshell frames
- Oversized frames
- Rimless frames (link all these)
You can accessorise even more with jewellery, scarves and hats. They can add a pop of colour to neutral outfits or to dress up simple looks. The choice is all yours.
Pick perfect Footwear
You have to choose the perfect footwear to complete your entire holiday outfit. They should be comfortable and yet stylish. You can pack a variety of shoes for different activities.
Exploring a new city? Take comfortable walking shoes. If you are going to have a beach day out, then sandals and if you have planned a night out, then dressier shows are a must.
Crossbody Bag
This is a perfect choice for a holiday. Having a crossbody bag means your hands are free while they are still practical and stylish.
Try to have a bag big enough so that you can carry all your essentials, such as your phone, wallet, and sunglasses. But don’t try to overburden the bag with irrelevant stuff. It would become cumbersome to carry around.
Well, I will conclude by saying that planning your holiday wardrobe is all about balance. And I hope this article has given you a direction towards planning your wardrobe for this holiday season and creating the perfect balance for your outfit.
