• The local languages are Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole. While some hotel staff speak English, most locals don’t, especially outside of tourist hubs. A few key Portuguese phrases can go a long way.
• Expect a lot of sunshine, even in the so-called rainy season from mid-August to mid-October. The showers pass quickly, often leaving behind fresher air and a rainbow if you’re lucky!
