Release stress

If you are stressed you will not sleep well. If you are tired the next day you are inevitably going to end up eating poor food choices. Simply relaxing in the evening, perhaps by doing yoga or listening to music could help. Choosing a bath instead of a shower could be a good way to relax or playing solitaire online or even just listen to a little white noise or classical music to fall asleep to.

Plan your breakfast

If you are having overnight oats for breakfast or even just fruit and yoghurt you could easily prepare these the night before to start your day healthily. Chopping the fruit in the evening when you have time means you are less likely to skip it in the morning due to rushing. Making it in the morning for weight loss can also help with organisation!

Don’t snack

After your evening meal there is no reason to snack, instead, find other things to do. Could you keep your hands busy playing games on your phone, reading or perhaps embroidery? I have a great list of ideas of things to do when you are bored that may help.

Prepare tomorrows lunch

Have you seen my article full of lunch ideas? Why not prepare your lunch ready for the morning so that there is no chance you will end up buying a meal deal of a sandwich, crisps and a drink from the supermarket! Whilst those offers are only £3 and seem a good deal, they aren’t good for you!

Think about what food actually is

Instead of thinking about eating that bar of chocolate that you fancy spend some time thinking about how food is fuel for you and it has got you through today so you don’t need any more until tomorrow as more fuel. Look at it in the same way as a vehicle, you wouldn’t fuel a vehicle that doesn’t need it. Not snacking in the evening for weight loss can make a huge difference!

Start journalling

Keep a journal of what you eat and when, by writing it down it is easy to see and accept how much you are actually eating. This will also help you to see if you are eating things at a certain time of day that is just not keeping you full so you can adjust what you are already eating instead of adding to your food.

Set your alarm

Setting your alarm does two things, one is that you sleep more deeply because you are not anxious as to whether you will wake on time. The other is that you can set it 15 minutes earlier than normal to do a little yoga, have a stretch or just make time for sitting and enjoying that healthy breakfast instead of rushing it!
