Midweek Catch-Up 24/09/25
Hello again, thank you for stopping by. I have a few things I’m excited to share with you this week.

Health Catch-up
It has been a strange week, if I am honest. I have been really thinking about my mental health and wondering what is normal, how other people feel and if my feelings when I think I am “ok” are actually the same as how other people feel. I have been starting to wonder if I am actually just less depressed, if that makes sense? Do you ever feel like that? I know that my hormones really affect me mentally, and I have an appointment with the doctor next week as I want to discuss all of that.
I am still experiencing some issues with my chest, but overall, I think there is a slight improvement, which is definitely good. I have an asthma review in a few weeks, so I will see what they say then as well.
I am currently trying out an Ultrahuman smart ring, which monitors my health, so I’m excited to share it with you.
Books
This week I have loved my books again! I have listened to a few on Audible and read a few on my Kindle, but now I have banned myself from any more until I have read the books I bought for this month’s book club theme! Here are the books I have enjoyed this week.
I have finished one of the books I told you about last week, The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell, which I enjoyed. I wouldn’t say I enjoyed it enough to rush to read any more of Laura Purcell’s books, but I did definitely enjoy it.
In the Cara Hunter series, which I’ve mentioned a few times lately, I have now finished book 5, The Whole Truth, and read the whole of book 6 this week too, Hope to Die, which was just as good as the others! Now I can finally read book 7 that I bought a few weeks ago!
Another one I enjoyed this week was Ghost Child by Caroline Overington. It was a great book, but also strange in that it almost seemed like a true story, but it wasn’t. Not as twisty and turny as a normal thriller, and very much more like a true crime book. That said, I did enjoy it!
I have been listening to another strange book too, Prisoner by Ross Greenwood. It is a thriller written by someone who worked in prisons, based on his experiences, but entirely fictional. Again, this is a strange one that feels like it is a true story, and so far (about 3/4 of the way through) there have been no twists or turns, so I am a little unsure what I think. I was hoping to finish it earlier today, but for some reason, on Audible, it is showing as having a playback error, so I am not sure what will happen there. I will contact Audible if the issue persists tomorrow. It also turns out it is part of a series so I might end up down that rabbit hole next!

Family and Life
Last weekend, Stuart and I attended a wedding fair, and we now have a much clearer idea of our wedding plans, which is exciting! Now I just need to lose weight so I feel more comfortable in my dress!
It is my birthday in less than a fortnight, so I have been thinking what I can do, other than the bottomless brunch I mentioned last week. Stuart and I might go out somewhere for the day. I can choose, so I am thinking of an amazing book shop somewhere. What do you think? What would you do?
Latest on the blog
I have been working on my Christmas gift guides some more, which is so exciting, and as I said above, reviewing a Smart Ring, so I am excited to share that with you, with a discount code!
