Prepare for Christmas Like a Pro (Without Losing Your Marbles)

Ah, Christmas. The most wonderful (and sometimes stressful) time of the year. The holiday season is upon us, and whether you’re a Christmas wizard or a festive novice, we’ve got you covered with a list of essentials you won’t want to forget. Because nothing spells “Merry Christmas” like a well-prepared, stress-free holiday!

Just wanted to give you a heads-up that this guide includes items I’ve been paid to feature, PR samples, and affiliate links that earn me a small commission. All opinions are my own, and I wouldn’t include anything I don’t think would make an lovely gift for someone. Jen x

Food and Drinks: The Festive Feast

Let’s be honest, the highlight of Christmas Day is the food! Whether you’re a traditional turkey lover or a vegetarian nut roast enthusiast, plan that menu in advance. Don’t forget those all-important sauces—cranberry, bread, or even a cheeky bit of gravy. And let’s not overlook the drinks; stock up on your favourite festive tipples to keep spirits bright and glasses filled.

Setting the Scene: Table Decor Galore

Your family deserves a dining table worthy of a Christmas card cover. Start with a festive tablecloth and place mats to set the tone. No Christmas dinner is complete without crackers to pull (just keep a straight face during awkward jokes). These small touches transform a meal into a memorable occasion.

For table linen I always prefer washable ones as they last throughout the season and for years to come. My choice for this is usually from Terrys Fabrics as I love their range.

Remember to measure your dining table before ordering a tablecloth or runner. I chose this Catherine Lansfield Majestic Stag design which I think is perfect for a classic but festive design and it matches our dining room perfectly!

For Table mats or placemats I chose this set of four gold stag design mats as they are fabulous quality and not too Christmassy so perfect for new year too.

If you want to see how they would look in your home you could use the Terrys ViSULiZR App to see if it would look good.

Creating a Festive Backdrop

Candles and a tasteful centrepiece can turn your dining room into Christmas HQ. The Christmas tree looks good, but what else can you do? Window decorations with snowflakes or twinkling lights add that magical winter feel, even if the weather outside is frightful!

Check out the snow spray and window stencils on Amazon.

Are you someone who likes to make sure everything is Christmas themed in December from bedding to tea towels? This lovely tea towel from Rex London would be a perfect addition.
