10 of the best places to visit for a singles holiday
This post is written in collaboration with Friendship Travel.
As regular readers know, I am not single but engaged and planning a wedding. That said, there are things I wish I had done when I was single, including speed dating (it sounds such fun), a singles holiday and travelling the world. I wanted to share my thoughts on 10 of the best places to visit for a singles holiday. Essentially, places I wish I went to as a single!

Single package holidays
There are some amazing holiday packages for singles holidays and they are not all for the young 18-30 age group! On these holidays you will find everyone is single, some because they are not in a relationship, others because they are widowed or just prefer to travel alone.
If you are looking for cheap singles holidays then look at the destination and activities planned to ensure it is suitable for your needs and age group.
The below destinations should give you an idea of places to consider. Whether you want an action-packed holiday or a tranquil relaxing break there is something for everyone.

Ideal solo holiday destinations
Here are some of the places that would make an ideal solo holiday if you don’t want to go as part of a package and wish to travel alone.
Travel Europe in a motor home
Perhaps you could get a caravan or motorhome and travel Europe going wherever you fancy in your own time. I have an article about solo caravan travel that you may find helpful.
Christmas markets
The German or Austrian Christmas markets would be a lovely place to visit and just as fun to do as a single.
Black Forest
This picturesque region in southwestern Germany is renowned for its natural beauty, unspoiled forests, and charming villages. Whether you’re an adventure seeker or simply seeking solace, the Black Forest has something to offer everyone.
The waterfalls of Italy
Are you looking for a memorable holiday adventure? Look no further than Italy’s astonishing waterfalls. From cascading cascades to crystal-clear pools, Italy’s waterfalls offer breathtaking views and a memorable experience.
Exploring these natural wonders can be a relaxing and rejuvenating experience that brings you closer to nature, and often causes a sense of awe and wonder at the stunning beauty of the world. So why not take a chance and explore these natural wonders on your next solo travel trip rather than just visiting Rome?
The Antarctic
You may be asking yourself “why the Antarctic?” Well, the answer is simple. The breathtaking views, the once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and the opportunity for self-discovery are just a few reasons why singles should visit this frozen wonderland.
Imagine cruising through ice-filled waters, watching penguins waddle by, and feeling the crisp Antarctic air fill your lungs. Not only will you be surrounded by stunning natural beauty, but you’ll also have the chance to meet like-minded individuals on this unique trip. Trust me, a visit to the Antarctic will leave you with memories to last a lifetime.
Cape Verde
This hidden gem off the coast of West Africa has everything a single traveller could ask for – pristine beaches, vibrant nightlife, and plenty of opportunities for adventure.
Whether you’re looking to relax on the sand, dance the night away, or try your hand at water sports like snorkelling or windsurfing, Cape Verde is sure to deliver. And with a warm and welcoming culture, you’ll feel right at home on this stunning island nation.
Norway
Norway has so much to offer for singles who want to explore and have a good time. Go on a hiking or skiing adventure in the mountains, cruise along the fjords to see the Northern Lights, or enjoy the nightlife in Oslo – the options are endless. Furthermore, Norwegians are known for their friendliness and openness, which means you’ll never feel alone or out of place.
A UK walking holiday
Walking holidays are a great way to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and to recharge your batteries without being too expensive. The UK has countless stunning trails with breathtaking scenery to discover. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced hiker, there will be a trail that suits your abilities.
A Mediterranean cruise
Onboard a cruise ship, you’ll have access to a wide range of activities, from fine dining to entertainment shows to spa treatments. And off the ship, you’ll get to experience new cultures and explore exotic destinations. Plus, since you’re travelling solo, you have the freedom to choose your itinerary and do exactly what you want to do.
Lisbon
Lisbon is a popular destination for a luxury holiday. With its captivating mix of historic architecture, trendy bars and restaurants, and a thriving arts scene, Lisbon has something for everyone.
Plus, its compact size makes it perfect for exploring on foot, making it a great choice for solo travellers looking to immerse themselves in local culture.
Whether you’re interested in trying fresh seafood, dancing the night away, or simply soaking up the sunshine on the coast, Lisbon offers endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation.
Where will you go?
Are you planning a solo holiday for any reason? Friendship holiday packages are great if you are not confident at making friends while you travel alone, as they are full of other singles who will likely feel similar.
If you have the confidence however why not book a short break somewhere nice on your own and see how you get on? Remember if you are travelling alone you can plan your own itinerary and have no one else to consider when choosing where to eat, where to visit and when to come home!
