Prezzo Italian Nottingham – A Review

Press visit – This meal and drinks at Prezzo Italian Nottingham were paid for in return for an honest review. All opinions are mine and those of the family and friends that I dined with.

I love eating out, partly because I am the one who cooks at home, so it gives me a night off, and partly because I just love good food! When I was invited to review Prezzo Italian in Nottingham, I knew it would be fun. It has recently rebranded from Prezzo to Prezzo Italian and had a refurbishment and new look, so I was intrigued to visit.

I went with my partner Stuart, our son Ben, and our good friends Julie and Paul. I share below our entire meal, from the tasty starters to the amazing desserts, and give you our honest thoughts on the food, service, and overall atmosphere. If you’re searching for your next Italian restaurant in Nottingham, this review is for you.

Our Visit to Prezzo Italian Nottingham

Located conveniently in the heart of the city, Prezzo Italian has a modern yet cosy feel. The décor is stylish, with comfortable seating and warm lighting that creates a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. We were seated promptly by a friendly member of staff, and the restaurant was buzzing with energy. It was busy and most tables were full, but not so loud that we couldn’t enjoy our conversation. Right from the start, we all felt comfortable and ready for a good meal.

The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. Our servers (Scarlett and Faith) were attentive, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humour, which added to the relaxed feel of the evening. They took our drinks order while we browsed the menu, and we were pleased with the variety of options available.

Starters

Choosing a starter is always a highlight for me, and Prezzo’s menu had some tempting choices. Stuart, Paul, and I decided to try the Hot Honey Glazed Mozzarella Sticks. At £9.25, they were a real treat. The mozzarella was perfectly melted inside a crispy coating, and the hot honey glaze added a nice sweet kick. They were incredibly moreish and disappeared from our plates in no time.

Julie went for the classic Garlic Bread, which was priced at a reasonable £6.25. It arrived with just the right amount of garlic butter. It was simple, but perfectly executed.

Ben chose the Calamari (£9.25), wherever we go he loves the Calamari, so he is something of a Calamari expert! The portion was generous, and the calamari was tender with a light, crispy batter. Served with a pesto and mayonnaise dip, it was a refreshing and delicious start to his meal. Everyone was happy with their choices.

The Main Course: Pizza, Pasta, and Calzone

With the starters being such a hit, we had high hopes for our main courses. The menu offered a good selection of classic Italian dishes, from pizza and pasta to calzones and salads.

A serving of golden French fries topped with grated cheese and herbs, placed in a paper-lined basket branded with “PREZZO ITALIAN” and “CIAO!”—a delicious bite perfect for your next Nottingham Prezzo Italian review.

I decided on the Very Veggie Calzone (£16.95). As a big fan of calzones, I was excited to see how Prezzo’s version measured up. It was huge! Packed with butter-roasted mushrooms, spinach and sun-dried tomatoes with creamy mascarpone, all wrapped in a perfectly baked dough and served with a rich tomato sauce and a massive side salad. To go with it, I ordered a side of Truffle Fries (£6.25), which were delicious.

Stuart and Ben are big pizza lovers, so they both went for that option. Stuart chose the Meat Lovers Pizza and decided to make it a large for an extra £3 charge, bringing the total to £21.50. It was loaded with pepperoni, chicken, and pancetta, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ben went for The Spicy One Pizza, also made large (£21.50). Topped with pepperoni, nduja sausage, and red chillies and drizzled with honey, it certainly lived up to its name. He loves spicy food, and this pizza delivered the perfect amount of heat without overwhelming the other flavours.

Stuart also added a side of Chilli Garlic Cheese Fries (£6.25), which were lovely (he let me try some!) but a bit too spicy for a wimp like me.

Paul stuck with a classic and ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese (£16.95). The portion was generous, and the rich, slow-cooked beef and red wine sauce was full of flavour. He thoroughly enjoyed it and added a side of Garlic Bread (£5.95) to mop up every last bit of the delicious sauce.

Julie chose the Tuscan BBQ Chicken Pizza (regular size, £17.50). The combination of mozzarella with tender chicken, pork sausage crumb, rosemary and red onion was a winner. She said the base was perfectly thin and crispy.

The Desserts

Even after our substantial starters and main courses, we couldn’t resist a peek at the dessert menu. There’s always room for something sweet, right?

Ben and I both have a serious sweet tooth, so we ordered the Quadruple Chocolate Cookie Dough (£8.50). It was a warm, gooey, chocolate-chip cookie dough topped with chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was pure indulgence and the perfect way to end the meal.

Julie was tempted by the same dessert but was feeling a bit full, so she cleverly asked to have it to take away, which the staff were happy to accommodate.

Paul opted for something a little lighter and chose the Raspberry Sorbet (£5.75). It was vibrant and refreshing, providing a perfect palate cleanser after his rich bolognese.

Stuart, however, was drawn to a special on the Nottingham menu: the Kinder Bueno and Marshmallow Calzone (£7.95). This was as amazing as it sounds!

Drinks

The drinks menu at Prezzo had something for everyone. Initially, our table ordered Coke (£4.25) or Coke Zero (£3.95). Ben, wanting something a bit more substantial with his main course, had a pint of Poretti Lager (£7.50), which he said was crisp and refreshing. Julie finished her meal with a comforting cup of Tea (£3.50).

As for me, I couldn’t resist a glass of my favourite white wine, Pinot Grigio. I enjoyed three glasses over the course of the evening, two large (250ml) at £9.50 each and one medium. The wine was crisp, dry, and perfectly chilled, pairing beautifully with my veggie calzone.
