Emma’s Story

It all started in July 2017 when I gave birth to my son. I came home knowing I’d gained a huge amount during pregnancy. Whilst pregnant I thought it was the perfect time to take advantage of my love and food! I did, a little bit too much and oh my did I pay for it?

Only 3 weeks after having my son, I decided it was time to weigh myself and shock, I was 16st 2lb! I was mortified and literally cried thinking how did this ever happen to me?

I joined Slimming World in early October 2017, I was scared and it took me 3 attempts of driving there sitting in the car park and driving back home because I was too scared to go in.

Eventually, on the third try, I thought, I have to do this! I went in and everyone was super welcoming.

I’d already lost exactly 2 stone from July – October alone at home and my starting weight at Slimming World was 14st 2lb.

I went home and tried my absolute best I wanted to get rid of this weight and with my dedication, it was falling off me. I hit my first target on 28th May 2018 of 10st 7lb.

This wasn’t good enough for me and I lowered my target to 10st which I hit on the 23rd of July after a stay in hospital for 7 days and a holiday for 2 weeks in between I was super chuffed.

But again, for me there was room for a little extra, I’ve now lowered my target to 9st 7lb which I’m currently still working on (7lb to go after a couple of gains)!

On the 20th of August 2018, I was voted woman of the year! And this is when I felt most proud of my achievement. I have so much more confidence and I generally feel happy. I love going into a shop and picking up a size 8 pair of jeans and comfortably fitting them into them.

The key for me and my top tip is not to deprive yourself. If you want something have it just make better choices with other things and keep within your syns.

I’d also say don’t be so hard on yourself for a few gains, they are OK and you are allowed to have these gains especially when it comes to special occasions and holidays.

My last tip would be to go and get weighed every week! And STAY in the group. My group are so so supportive and I generally look forward to attending if they aren’t then you are in the wrong group.

Whoever is thinking about it, just go and do it …. you’ll never look back. I haven’t!

  1. That’s incredible! Your weight loss story is very inspiring. Your story helps prove that it really can be done. I’m in the middle of this journey right now. I know firsthand how difficult it is to lose weight, but then I had a major breakthrough and found a simple morning habit that completely changed my life (thank goodness) I had doubts that it would work, but I was pleasantly surprised when it actually did ?
