My little attempt at a poem about being a secret eater and sabotaging yourself for the full week! It is the true story of my secret eating whilst I was following Slimming World! I am sure you will also see yourself in this too.
I’m a secret eater and I know you are too,
looking in the fridge and don’t know what to do.
Everyone is in bed and so nobody will see,
that bit of leftover cake or tiny bit of brie.
Now I am wide awake and want it all the more,
I creep across the kitchen, gently shut the door.
That hidden bar of chocolate just behind the rice,
it’s calling out my name it really is so nice.
I can’t just have a bit, I need to have it all,
the bar is very tasty but not really small.
Then I make a coffee and think that I am bad,
now I feel emotional and a little sad.
I look around the room and see a loaf of bread,
I bet a slice of toast will help me clear my head.
But if I’m making one I may as well have two,
it is still so quiet so no one will have a clue.
Now I feel so bad that I sat and ate it all,
as I creep back to bed and tiptoe through the hall.
The next day at the garage I buy a little treat
I really do deserve it in this awful heat.
The week is nearly over and I know I’ll have a gain
I may as well keep eating bad then start over again!
I am sure I am not alone in having done this. If only after one slip up we drew the line and didn’t carry on thinking that we could just start afresh next week! I hope this little attempt at a poem from me helps others see they are not alone and we all have these slip ups at times! Jen, thank you so much for posting this. The whole thing is as if you have followed me around my kitchen. The bits that really got to my head “That hidden bar of chocolate just behind the rice”, and “The week is nearly over and I know I’ll have a gain, I may as well keep eating bad then start over again!”
I am constantly hiding things, be it product or wrapper!! and I absolutely have that mentality of ‘well I’ve stuffed it now, I’ll start afresh on weigh in day’. except it’s never on weigh in day is it, because on weigh in day I console myself about the last week, by having ‘one last binge..’
Hey there Jen I subscribed just recently to your site but have not received the weekly plan? Many thanks 🙂
Hi Mary can you email me on justaveragejen@gmail.com and I’ll look into this for you? Thanks
Trying to lose weight,I have quit buying bread which has helped out a lot but I know I have to work in the gym to make a real difference.
