Midweek Catch up 02/7/25

Hello again, here we are in July already, and gosh, doesn’t the temperature show it! Have you had weather as hot as we have, up in the low 30’s?

A green-to-blue gradient speech bubble features bold black text: "Jen's Midweek Catch Up." Below, in smaller text, it reads "2nd July 2025." The modern and clean design highlights the midweek catch up theme.

Weight Loss, Exercise and Mental Health Catch-up

For the first time in 6 weeks I knew my weight this week (I needed to for an appointment). I am proud to say that I have lost just over a stone, around 18lb so I am extremely pleased with that. Now I will be back to not knowing my weight again for a while, but I have said to Stuart that I would like to know before our holiday, so I can see how much I have lost for that. I have talked about why I mostly don’t know my weight and weight changes previously. If you want to know about my weight loss issues, please have a read if you haven’t already.

My exercise this last week has been amazing, and I am so proud of myself for that. I have really got into the routine and am doing 60-90 minutes of exercise a day over 2-3 sessions. I have loved walking before breakfast and in the evening, and sometimes I also walk at lunchtime, sometimes I do a bit of a fast walk/run on the cross-trainer.

I am still listening to true crime and audiobooks while walking and it is really making it a bit of me-time, which I thoroughly enjoy. The other day I did a 5km hilly walk. Whilst I have been trying to share on social media, I don’t every day as I think it will drive people mad, but let me know if you would rather I did.

Today I haven’t done any exercise as I have a nasty bug (blame Ben bringing it home from college!) and my asthma is affected by it so it is better to not do anything today. That said, I am hoping I can get back to it tomorrow, but we will see how I sleep tonight. I didn’t sleep at all well last night, so today I just feel shattered! I also have a very croaky voice that sounds like it should be narrating some kind of spicy book or on adult phone lines!

On the meal plan this week we have had a lot of salads again, but mixing up a bit what we have on them. I am loving pomegranate seeds on my salads a lot lately.

Books

This week I have finished the Lucy Letby book on Audible, I was listening to, and whilst there wasn’t anything I didn’t know in it (I am a true crime geek!), I did find it interesting. In case you are interested, my feelings on the case haven’t changed very much, but I do think it is worth a listen or read if you are interested in that kind of thing. My personal belief is that whilst we can not be sure whether she did it or not, I feel there is enough evidence that she may not have done it to warrant a retrial or appeal. Do you have any opinions on the case? I would love to hear them, so do let me know in the comments below.

I have almost finished Lovely Bones and still am enjoying it, though there are parts I find a little strange. Is it one you have read? I am reading for this month’s book club, which is books that have been made into TV or film. I have listened to The Shawshank Redemption, which I enjoyed (I love the film too!), and my latest audiobook is The Girl on The Train, which I am enjoying so far and should finish easily in time for Tuesday’s book club. If I feel better and can get back to exercise, I might even squeeze another audiobook in!

Family and Life

There isn’t much I can say about family and life this week. Ben wasn’t well and he has bad hayfever on top of that, so he was off college on Monday. He is off on Tuesdays anyway, so he went back today but isn’t 100% still. He gave it to me and I feel blooming rotten. I was supposed to be going for a coffee with a friend today, but didn’t make it and went to sleep again instead!

On The Blog

You may have noticed my blog had some downtime last week. Unfortunately, I have had some problems with my site, and it looks like I have been hacked at some point, which has left an issue in the coding. It is hard to explain, but it shouldn’t affect you guys, so all is now back to normal!

This week I have written a few new posts you might like:
