Midweek Catch-up 8/9/25
Hello again! I want to start this catch-up by saying whilst I have titled it with the Wednesdays date it was finished on the Thursday as life has just got in the way, but more about that below.

Health Catch-Up
In the last week my health has taken a bit of a back seat but I did have my appointment with the GP which went really well. I felt like she listened and understood my concerns with the gynaecologist and also about my mental health and offered me some great support as well as a plan moving forward. I am feeling a lot more positive about things moving forward.
Ben had an operation last Friday and I stayed in hospital with him and we didn’t come home until Sunday so mentally and physically that has been challenging but nothing compared to Ben’s experiences. This week has been so stressful with appointments, dressings and infections to contend with for Ben it feels like time to myself has been very minimal. I wouldn’t change him for the world though and will always do what I can to help him.
Despite Ben being 19, due to his learning disabilities, we have plans in place to help ensure he has support such as me staying with him in hospital. The staff were all amazing on the whole (always a few that aren’t!) and I am thinking of writing an article about the support in hospital available for people with autism and learning disabilities.
Books
I haven’t been able to read as much as usual this week, what with the uncomfortable hospital nights, waking in the night to give Ben medication and changing dressings regularly etc I have barely had a minute to stop and relax! I have however almost finished Doll House by John Hunt that I mentioned in last weeks catch-up. I have never read his books before and horror isn’t usually my cup of tea as I am more of a thriller girl but I have loved it! I am 92% through the book so will finish it tonight! Unless the ending is awful I feel I can saw without hesitation it is a really good book. Not one to read if you are squeamish with graphic descriptions of forced intimacy, abuse and blood.
I am still reading My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix too.
Family and Life
This week has been a strange week. I had my birthday and turned 45 but spent the evening with Ben in the out of hours doctors! We had a takeaway for my birthday the following day though so that was nice. My favourite is Indian so that is what we went for. It was lovely, but as always we ate loads and were still stuffed at bedtime!
Stuart and I are still working on wedding planning. There isn’t too much to say yet but we are excited about it!
