Midweek Catch-up 15/10/25
This week was very stressful, so this is likely to be a bit of a short catch-up, but I have to share a few things. I love the routine of the catch-up on a Wednesday. So, grab a cuppa and have a read.

Health, Weight Loss, Exercise, etc
I haven’t been on the scales this week, nor have I eaten particularly well. Since Ben’s operation, which I mentioned last week, there has been a lot of stress with him having infections and needing lots of support and appointments. It has been so stressful and busy; I just haven’t had the time to really think about it and have had to get whatever I needed when I could.
I have been thinking, though, that when things settle down a bit more here, I am going to start walking more again. I will probably have to start with small walks and build up again as my chest/lungs allow. I think this will benefit me in more ways than just exercise. It will be a bit of me time, a help for my mental health, and also just burning a few more calories!
Book reviews
Due to the busy and stressful week, there hasn’t been much time for reading, but I have finished Doll House by John Hunt. It was brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A true page turner in my opinion. There is a follow-up book called Olivia that I have started, but haven’t been drawn into as much, so I am not too sure about that. If you have read it after Doll House, let me know your thoughts. Should I persevere?
I am also reading the 7th book in the Cara Hunter series I mentioned in previous weeks. I am enjoying this one just as much, so I will be gutted when the series finishes.
I also have plans to read the latest Freida McFadden book, as I am excited to read that. I am still reading My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix, too. I need to get back into that, as I put it down because my Kindle was easier for the hospital, and this is a paperback!
Next Month’s book club is books which have won awards. Have you got any recommendations? Let me know in the comments below.
Family and Life
This week has been taken up by a lot of caring for Ben. His operation wound has been very sore and infected, requiring a lot of appointments, pain relief and support to change dressings regularly, etc. Ben has also had to be off college because of this, which is hard for him and very lonely, so I have spent more time with him than working to look after him, relieve his pain, etc.
On Saturday, Stuart stayed home with Ben whilst I went out for my birthday. I went for a Bottomless brunch in Nottingham with my friends Julie and Amy, and my sister Jo. We had lots to drink both at Turtle Bay, where we had the Bottomless Brunch, and at various bars around Nottingham. Honestly, we had such an amazing time. I really needed that break and chance to let my hair down a bit. I felt so refreshed afterwards (along with a slight headache!).
The day before the bottomless brunch, I had my hair done and coloured back to more of my natural colour (dark brown) and got rid of the pinky purple colour! I will take some pictures this week to share with you! I absolutely love it, but every time I look in the mirror, I am surprised by how different it looks.
