What could you have for a tasty healthy breakfast? Check out these unofficial Slimming World breakfast ideas.
Breakfast is one meal that many people hoping to lose weight often struggle with. That said, a healthy breakfast is important so you should never miss breakfast if you can avoid it.
Just Average Jen is an independent blog. It is not connected with any weight loss plan. None of the contributors have received training from them or worked for them.
The reader is responsible for checking nutritional values, such as Slimming World syn values and WW points. Additionally, they must check any other allowances; any given are approximate.
What breakfast do we want?
We all want something filling and quick to prepare because that time of day is usually so busy, isn’t it? These healthy breakfast ideas should help you.
I have put together a selection of ideas for you from my experience and other bloggers including easy-to-follow recipes.
If you follow Slimming World, Weight Watchers (WW), Noom (paid link) or any other weight loss plan you can usually count this as free or easily within your allowances, of course always check your plan for advice.
Maybe you will find something new to try or have a reminder of something you used to enjoy and haven’t had for a while.
Do check out my other unofficial Slimming World recipes for your other meals to ensure you have a healthy day.
Breakfast on Slimming World
There are so many hot and cold Slimming World breakfast ideas you could try so you should never get bored.
Here I am sharing just some of those ideas with you.
Breakfast when calorie counting
There are two ways to look at breakfast when you are calorie counting, one is to think that if you fill up on a big meal for breakfast you won’t want to snack before lunch.
The other is that if you’re in a rush you can eat very little and save your calories for later in the day.
The choice of course is yours but all my recipes have nutritional information so you can decide what works for you.
Fruit breakfasts
If you would like to have a fruit-based breakfast there are many options for you, just remember to check out how they fit in with your healthy diet in regards to points, syns or allowances.
Slimming World discourages smoothies because fruit contains a lot of natural sugars which when blended are easy to over-consume.
Fruit and Yoghurt
Try out different yoghurts and different fruits for some variety.
Check the ingredients of the yoghurt though to avoid one with too much fat or sugar as it really isn’t necessary to be tasty.
Fruit and Fromage frais
A little different to yoghurt and using fat-free fromage frais and sweetening it slightly with honey or artificial sweetener is so tasty.
Depending on the fruits you choose you may not need anything to sweeten them at all.
Fruit, yoghurt and a handful of seeds
This is one of my favourite healthy or Slimming World breakfast ideas.
You would have to syn the seeds on Slimming World or count them on some other diets such as WW but they are good for fibre and protein so can fill you nicely for the day.
Breakfast cereals
Not all breakfast cereals have to be full of sugar there are some which are really natural like shredded wheat, wheat biscuits/Weetabix, oats and bran.
Check for added ingredients but otherwise, these are so much better than chocolate and sugar-based cereals. How about a low-sugar granola like Lizi’s maple and pecan granola, it is lovely and pretty low in syns compared to other granola varieties have tried.
Counting what is necessary on your plan here are some ideas that may help.
Check out my list of 50+ unofficial Healthy Extra B choices to help you including allowances for all your favourite cereals for a Slimming World breakfast.
Overnight oats
Basically, these are oats soaked in yoghurt or something similar with added fruit and possibly other ingredients.
Here are some combinations you might like to consider:
Pina colada – Use coconut yoghurt or coconut milk with oats as the base and add pineapple.
Cherry Bakewell – Cherries and almond essence with oats and yoghurt.
Apple and Cinnamon – These two go so well together what a lovely way to make overnight oats tasty.
Banoffee – Banana and Salted Caramel essence or toffee yoghurt.
Remember that with natural yoghurt you can add any food flavourings such as salted caramel and the fruit of your choice!
I have a whole list of many overnight oats ideas so do check that out for more healthy unofficial Slimming World breakfast ideas!
Baked oats
By using oats and an egg along with some fruit and flavours you can make little breakfast muffins.
Why not make your own with seasonal fruits, winter fruits are perfect for this.
This might be just the breakfast for you if you are bored of eating cereal but want to keep oats in your diet.
The combinations above for overnight oats would also work well with baked oats. Other options include blueberry, spiced orange or maybe just your favourite fruit.
More recipes can be found in my baked oats guide here which has lots of scrummy recipes.
Using healthy extras
Here is a selection of cereals you may not have considered that fit within your healthy extra choices.
If you are wondering what cereals can I eat on Slimming World using hex b allowance then this should help.

Cooked breakfasts
In winter especially many people want to start the day with something hot.
There are so many different combinations so here is a list of potential foods you could add to your breakfast.
See what takes your fancy or what you could add to your current breakfast to liven it up a bit.
Again don’t forget to check your healthy eating plan for if these are free or counted etc.
Eggs
There are so many different ways to cook eggs, scrambled, hard-boiled, soft-boiled, poached, fried and some crazy people have them raw!
I have a post dedicated to eggs and tips with them here. For a different take on eggs how about these eggs in ham?
Sausages
Check my post for all the best sausages and both meat and vegetarian or meat-free sausages to keep you on plan!
Bacon
Get it as lean as you can before cooking to avoid that saturated fat by removing all visible fat. Bacon medallions are usually the best to buy for this.
Scissors are the best way to remove any fat or rind in my opinion.
Tomatoes
You can use tinned or fresh, the choice is yours. Adding a little Hendersons relish or Worcestershire sauce to them is delicious!
Mushrooms
You can choose from tinned or fresh but I much prefer fresh! Does anyone actually prefer tinned?
Baked beans
It is easy to make your own smoky beans to avoid all the added sugar it is really easy! Maybe you are wondering, are baked beans speed food?
Unfortunately, they are not but they are free and a great way to bulk a meal out in my opinion.
Alternatively, why not make Boston beans for a full meal?
Spinach
This can be served either fresh or slightly wilted. To me slightly wilted is perfect.
Potatoes
There are so many ways you could enjoy potatoes with your breakfast. How about cubed and roasted or fried in a low-calorie cooking spray?
You could make potato slices, chips or wedges if you prefer. Have you ever considered mashed potatoes for breakfast?
They could actually really change up your meal and be perfect for brunch too.
Tofu
Tofu is a favourite with vegans and can be made scrambled in a way similar to eggs.
Using Himalayan black salt and a little turmeric to flavour it, you will be surprised how like eggs it tastes!
You can add other vegetables while cooking it if you like and it tastes great too.
Quinoa
This tasty quinoa breakfast recipe is perfect for a warm breakfast. I know others enjoy quinoa with fruit so why not try that for a change?
Stir-fried vegetables
It is definitely something I will be trying as I know it is a popular choice and imagine starting the day with all those vitamins.
Breakfast muffins
There is no reason you can’t make a batch of these to last a few days or snack on them during the day.
Check out this breakfast muffin recipe.
Baked eggs
This simply is egg beaten and mixed with meat or vegetables of choice then baked into a mini quiche type dish.
Baked eggs in ham
Very popular in continental breakfasts cold with cheese or great with eggs in egg in ham recipes like this.
Breakfast Quiche
This is a great easy breakfast that can be adapted to include whatever you fancy. Check out my breakfast quiche recipe.
Roasted peppers
This may not be something you would consider for breakfast but delicious addition to any breakfast I think.
Sometimes to have the best breakfast you need to think outside the box a little. That way you might find great Slimming World breakfast ideas you hadn’t thought of.
Wholemeal bread/toast
Obviously, if you prefer white the choice is yours however wholemeal or seeded is always healthier and can be a healthy extra b choice if you are a Slimming World follower.
Bagels
These are not always that healthy but I guess it depends on how many you enjoy. I can never limit myself to one! Bagels are lovely with a variety of toppings.
Breakfast pancakes
Pancakes don’t have to be unhealthy here are some great alternatives to traditional pancakes.
Apple pancakes
These Apple pancakes are a healthier choice and so tasty too
Omelette style pancakes
Make very thin omelettes and then serve as pancakes
Ready brek or oat pancakes
Simply mix together 40g of Ready Brek (or the supermarket’s own brand of similar milled oats) with 120 ml of skimmed milk and 1 egg.
Whisk well and add a pinch of salt and you have the perfect pancake mix enough for one person.
American style pancakes
American style pancakes made with bananas – Using 1 large ripe banana, 2 eggs, and 2 level tbsp of self-raising flour fry into 12 pancakes.
The whole recipe is 10 syns so share as you wish or scoff them all if you prefer!
Banana pancakes
Banana pancakes on Slimming World are hard to understand because the Slimming World plan insists that blended and cooked bananas are synned.
Check out my banana pancake recipe and see if you like it.
Pancakes on Slimming World
The above pancake recipes can be enjoyed on Slimming World but you do need to check which of the ingredients fall into your plan and which need to be added as syns.
Breakfast ideas with a difference
Maybe the above suggestions aren’t really for you, if so how about the following ideas which may take your fancy.
