Choosing the best sausages for weight loss
In general, opting for turkey sausages is the best option or low-calorie vegetarian sausages.
Chicken ones are also often a good choice, with both turkey and chicken being much lower in fat than pork or beef generally.
Looking at the fat content and calories of different options can usually be a good guide if you are really stuck.
If you are eating out choosing grilled or barbecued rather than fried will always be better. This is because the fat drips off and no extra fat is added to cook them.
Sausages for weight loss
In general, on most plans you could follow, choosing sausages will inevitably be down to the fat and calorie content of the sausages as well as sometimes the protein.
Weight loss comes about when you eat fewer calories than you burn and as such choosing low-calorie food and foods low in saturated fats and high in proteins is always the best.
If you follow a specific weight loss plan then they will have guidance to help you further.
The difference between sausages on Slimming World?
Some are syn free while others are significantly more. Can you imagine the difference that could make to your weight loss?
Most cocktail sausages are 1-1.5 syns each and they are so easy to eat a number of, aren’t they? Have you tried the Quorn ones? They are only half a syn each.

The best meat Slimming World friendly syn-free sausages
The only meat sausages I believe that are syn free are the Slimming World sausages (all flavours).

Heck Naked Chicken Skinless Sausages found in the chilled area of supermarkets in a 6 pack are just 0.5 for 2 sausages. Not quite syn free but pretty close.
Slimming World Half syn sausages
Half a syn is not too bad is it? I have found a few possibilities for around this, of course, do check yourself to be sure.

Porky Lights and Slimming World!
Porky Lights at 66g each are 2.5 syns each but you won’t find them on the Slimming World app as there were some issues with the two companies getting on a few years ago and as such they refused to include them on the database!
This value is worked out by putting the nutritional information into the syns calculator, or course the recipe could have since changed so always check yourself.
Slimming world friendly vegetarian sausages
As a vegetarian, I love a meal with sausages but find that some end up as more like a mixture of vegetables in breadcrumbs and just not the same.
Quorn sausages syns
As I am sure you know Quorn is a popular vegetarian and vegan brand. For 1 syn each you could have their frozen Cumberland sausages or two of their sausage patties which are frozen in a 4 pack and only half a syn each. They are said to be like the sausage in McDonald’s McMuffins!
At 1.5 syns each you could have the chilled or frozen Quorn sausages.

Heck Veg with Edge also does Super Green Sausages for one syn each, chilled in a 6 pack (43g each) 1 each and Vegan Breakfast Sausage, frozen in an 8 pack for 2 syns each. I have not tried either yet but they are on my list for the next few weeks!
