Midweek Catch-up 01/10/25
Hello again, how is it October already? I hope you are all well. Here I am with another midweek catch-up. There have been a lot of things happening this week here, so I don’t think I have as much to say as normal, but let’s see how it goes!

Health Catch-up
This week I have been on the scales and lost a little bit more weight. I do need to put in a bit more effort, though, as the progress is very slow at the moment. If I am honest, this is mostly due to my lack of effort!
So, slowly, I feel like my lung issues are improving, which is about blooming time. They are far from perfect, but I feel like they are not getting worse, which is definitely something! My appointment is tomorrow to ask for a second opinion about my gynaecological issues, so that is positive, as I feel like the current gynaecologist has just fobbed me off. Anyway, you don’t need to know all that. I just thought I would overshare as usual!
My mental health is also still a bit meh, but I am going to speak to the GP about that too, as my gut instinct is that there is a link to my hormones with this. Time will tell, I guess. I just want to feel that I am being listened to and that my concerns are being investigated properly.
I am still reviewing the Ultrahuman smart ring and loving it so far. I’m excited to share it with you in a week or so!
Books
This week, due to one thing and another, I haven’t read as much as I usually do.
If you read last week’s catch-up, you will know I was frustrated at an audiobook of Prisoner by Ross Greenwood stopping working partway through. Well, I never managed to get that working, so I spoke to Audible customer service, and they sent a new download of the book. So far, it seems to be working now. They also sent me a free credit, which was a nice gesture. I enjoyed the book on the whole, but I am not sure I enjoyed it enough to want to rush to read any of his other books.
I have started listening to Atomic Habits by James Clear as a friend at the book club recommended it a while back. It seems quite good so far, but I have felt like I need to be in the right frame of mind to listen to it.
Another book I have been enjoying is My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix. It isn’t something I would usually choose, but it is one of my book club reads for the horror month. I am really enjoying it, though, so far! I will keep you updated.
On my Kindle, I am reading Doll House by John Hunt, which is included on Kindle Unlimited if you have it. I am enjoying it, and so far I would definitely recommend it, but I will keep you updated.
Family and Life
In the last week, Stuart and I have paid a deposit and booked both our wedding ceremony and reception. We have had the ceremony booked for a few weeks, but until the other things started to come together, it didn’t feel right to get too excited! I’m now thrilled and have numerous ideas! Stuart is, of course, excited too, but I don’t think he has as many ideas as I do. I suppose it is perhaps a female thing to get all excited about planning.
One thing I am excited about is that during our reception, I will have a room, completely separate from the toilets, for a “ladies’ powder room”. It will have straighteners, mirrors, hair grips and all that sort of thing. How cool is that? Please let me know what you think it should include in the comments below, so I can create a list.
Next week will be my birthday, followed by a Bottomless brunch at the weekend, I am so excited as I always love a bottomless brunch and what better reason than for my birthday. We are going to Turtle Bay, as they offer a ÂŁ20 discount for your birthday (through the app), and I love their menu choices!
Ben has been a bit under the weather with a cold-like bug, though he seems to be improving now. He has an operation on Friday, so we are hoping it can still go ahead as it is due to an issue that has been uncomfortable and bothering him since February, so the sooner it is resolved, the better.
I have just found out that a school friend of mine has passed away. She was 44, to say I feel like I have been hit by a ton of bricks is an understatement. Although we didn’t speak as often nowadays due to our different lives, etc., she was a very good friend for a long time. There are things she knew about me that no one else does, things we went through together, and so many experiences we shared. I really hope Rachel is at peace now and that all her difficulties are behind her. Hopefully, her children will be given the help and support they need to grieve, and I hope they know how much she was loved by so many people, even if she didn’t always see it herself.
Latest on the Blog
I am still working on Christmas gift guides, which I love, but oh my, some pr companies have bizarre beliefs about what makes a great present! For example, can you imagine being given multivitamins as a gift? Or how about oven cleaner? I kid you not, these are the kind of people I deal with on a daily basis!
