We get how important it is to make sure you are getting the right skincare treatment that works best for you, that is why we have listed a few things that you will need to think about before you start your skincare journey.
Knowing your skin type
One of the most important things when it comes to picking the right skin care product is knowing your skin type. Sometimes people with different skin types use the wrong product, which can do more harm than good. So that is why you must make sure that you are using the right type of product.
You may have already known this, but those with acne-prone and sensitive skin need to be the most cautious with different ingredients in their skincare products. However, if you have a more oily skin type you are less at risk when trying new products as your skin can handle a wider range of ingredients that can sometimes trigger breakouts or irritation to other skin types.
What Product works for which skin types.
For oily skin, you will be looking for products that contain alpha-hydroxy acids glycolic acid or salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and hyaluronic acid which can be normally found with Korean skincare products. Normally these ingredients will be effective at controlling excess sebum production while hyaluronic acid will produce hydration only in areas needed.
For dry skin, you will be looking out for products that contain shea butter and lactic acid. Having these ingredients will help provide hydration as well as mild exfoliation to keep your dry skin looking radiant.
And for people with sensitive skin, you should be looking out for products that have aloe vera, oatmeal, and shea butter. These products will be good at keeping your skin moisturised.
If you are not sure what skin type you have and need help finding a skincare product that is right for your skin, you should visit your local dermatologist to confirm it. Once you understand your skin type, you can start selecting products that will benefit your skin.
What Is A Good Skin Care Routine
For a good skincare routine you will need to think of these three main steps:
- Cleansing – Washing your face.
- Toning – Balancing the skin.
- Moisturising – Hydrating and softening the skin.
Following these three steps will help tune up your skin so it can function at its best, and also deal with troubleshooting or targeting any areas you want to work on. As your skin needs to shift with age, so will your products. Start introducing these steps in your daily ritual so that it will help your skin age well.
Reviews and experiences
I always recommend that before you try something new you should always check out any reviews and experiences you can online to see if it seems suitable for you.
Here are a few good reviews I have read that may help give you an idea of what to look for.
- TCA peel at home review
- Tinted moisturiser review
- Retin A cream anti-wrinkle – an experience with before and after photos
- “Baby foot” mask – a peel for your feet
These are some things that you will need to think about when dealing with skin care products to make sure that you don’t do any damage or harm to your skin.
