How is technology transforming education?
This is a collaborative post.
Technology is transforming education more than we probably realise but here I wanted to share how it is changing so many aspects of education.
There is no doubt that technology has changed and had a major influence on our daily lives. From the way we pay for things, to the way we shop and work, technology has played a significant role in making specific tasks a lot easier to access and complete.

It is only normal to realise that technology has also had a huge impact on the field of education too. It has transformed classrooms into interactive learning environments, with the amount of information that is available on the internet at the simple click of a button.
Opportunities for learning have expanded too, with online school being available in various forms. Continue reading for some advice from this sixth form in London, on ways in which technology has transformed and is reshaping education.
Access to information
What once would have taken hours searching in books for a single piece of information, has now become as easy as typing a query into a search engine for thousands of results in seconds.
Technology has allowed students access to an unbelievable amount of information. It allows them to explore different subjects and gather information from various sources.
E-books, academic websites, and online databases offer a significant number of resources that can enhance and support traditional learning materials.
This access to information helps students to guide themselves in learning, broaden their understanding of various subjects and develop their critical thinking skills.
Interactive and fun learning experiences
Traditional forms of learning looked like students sitting at rows of desks, facing a whiteboard, with pens and thick study books in front of them.
Whilst this method was effective, it wasn’t the best way to keep students engaged, especially given individual learning styles. Technology alone has brought about a new level of excitement in classrooms.
Tools such as videos, simulations and even virtual reality, make learning captivating and interactive and play a huge part in transforming education.
These resources allow students to explore real-life scenarios, and understand difficult concepts, which plays a huge role in their learning.
In addition to using videos, simulations, and virtual reality to make learning more engaging for students, integrating specialized online programs tailored for young learners enhances these experiences even further. One such example is the kindergarten learning program by ABCMouse, designed to complement traditional education practices. This program makes use of interactive games and activities that not only entertain but also educate. It’s a prime example of how technology can transform educational content into something both fun and valuable, ensuring that learning continues to be an exciting journey for our youngest scholars.
Personalisation
A student’s learning style needs to be identified for their learning to be effective. However, with traditional methods of learning, it was extremely difficult for one teacher to support a class of 30 in the little time they got given to teach and deliver content.
Technology, on the other hand, allows a personalised learning experience, which uses learning software and tutoring systems to analyse the performance of a student, to create a personalised learning path.
This approach ensures students hit their targets and focus on areas of improvement. It is clear in the many ways that technology has influenced and transformed education for the better.
As it continues to advance, it is important to incorporate it into home learning as well to reap its endless benefits.
