8 non scale ways to track your weight loss

When you are trying to lose weight it is easy to get disheartened. It helps significantly to track your weight loss in every way you can so you see your body changing. The scales only tell one part of the story. Here I thought I would share with you some other ways you can track these changes.

Taking measurements during weight loss

Measure body parts and see the weight slide off them. Ideally measure a few different points not forgetting the upper arms, thighs, neck, hips and waist!

Clothing sizes

Keep track of your changing clothes sizes. This is easier if you stick to one shop as we all know how much they can vary.

Bra sizes

Compare bra sizes (ladies only obviously!). The size can change significantly even when you feel in other ways like your body hasn’t changed.

Changing coat hangers

Keep all the different size coat hangers and watch those sizes drop.

Food diaries

Another unique way to track your weight loss is by creating a food diary. When you write down what you eat in a single day, you will notice significant improvements in your food choices; this will ultimately lead to weight loss if you stay on track. Incorporating a food diary into your journey will hold you accountable and help you to notice what types of food make you feel energized and healthy.

Photographs or videos

Photographs can be a great tool to see the changes. Keep comparing yourself now to photos of when you started. Try to have the same pose as this will show accurately the difference.

Your belt

Watch the holes on a belt change. You will gradually need a smaller size belt without your clothes size changing immediately. This is a great way to see you are shrinking.

Jewellery and watches

Jewellery and watches. Does your ring feel looser or does a necklace hang lower? These things are not obvious day to day but actually, in a few weeks, you may notice!

If you are getting disheartened by your weight loss then you absolutely must keep a check on non-scale victories. They could make all the difference between you giving up or carrying on even if you have gained weight.
