As a society, we often forget that special days such as Father’s Day and Mother’s Day are about appreciating the person who plays this significant role in our lives, rather than lavishing them with gifts.
Much like some of the other annual holidays we celebrate, such as Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day is about showing your appreciation and love for the person in your life that plays this role – whether it be your children’s father, your father, your grandfather etc.
Celebrating Father’s Day doesn’t need to cost the earth. You shouldn’t ever feel the need to show your love and appreciation through material gifts that you can’t afford. No one ever wants to put someone in a position of financial hardship for the sake of a gift.
I know that for many people, wanting to celebrate a significant date like Father’s Day when you have very little spare money is difficult. I am here to share 3 ways of celebrating Father’s Day on a budget that is unique, easy to plan, and great fun for everyone.
It’s officially picnic weather, picnic in the park to celebrate Father’s Day
Food is always a great way to celebrate! Whether you’re celebrating a new job, birthdays, Father’s Day, or simply the fact that it’s finally sunny in the UK, food is always my go-to!
Picnics and family get-togethers are a great way to celebrate Father’s Day for several reasons. Firstly, the father figure in your life will love celebrating this day with all his friends, family, and loved ones. There’s no better way to show your appreciation for someone than by inviting all the people that they care deeply about to one place to have fun and socialise.
Secondly, when it comes to food and drink, people are usually more than happy to contribute. You could assign people with different items to bring to a get-together or picnic, whether that be putting them in charge of drinks, cake, or snack items for example. Alternatively, if you’d rather be in control of the catering options, most people will be happy to contribute financially to a large celebratory get together such as this.
Celebrate Father’s Day with a chore-free day.
A great way to celebrate Father’s Day on a budget is to provide a day free of chores for Dad! No laundry, no washing up, no cooking – everything that he would usually do is all done for him. All he has to do is sit back and relax.
This is a way to celebrate that the kids can definitely get involved with too; they could provide breakfast in bed, or even just a cuppa, and help to do all the jobs that Dad usually does.
Organise a Dad Day!
What does the father in your life enjoy doing most? Is he a keen fisherman? Does he particularly enjoy playing sports? Maybe he loves visiting museums? Celebrate father’s day on a budget by centring the day around his favourite interests – preferably the free ones!
There are lots of free museums dotted around the country, so it’s definitely worth taking a look at your local attractions. You may be able to get a better price by booking in advance online, so always check the attraction’s website before visiting.
