I have lost a lot of weight previously with Slimming World, over 10 stone to be exact! That said, I have also put a lot of weight on for a number of reasons over recent years so I thought I would experiment and try Weight Watchers instead and see how I get on. It is still early days but I have already lost a stone and a half! Here are a few reasons I prefer Weight Watchers already and I wanted to share them with you.
Weight Watchers helps with Portion Control
Whilst some foods are completely free, such as onions, others like pasta have points and this has helped me to consider my portion sizes more. I appreciate I ate big portions on Slimming World and lost over 10 stone however I think the big thing to note is that this didn’t help me to moderate what I eat and off plan days were then really off plan as I still ate lots, just of the wrong stuff!
Carrying points over
With Weight Watchers, you can carry some points over but not too many. I think this is a good way of being able to consider treat days within a healthy diet. I know Slimming World allow “flexible syns” but from my understanding and experience this is more about allowing yourself a number and trying to stick within that. Does this help with the long term? In my opinion, not that much, but maybe others feel differently?
Rewards for Exercise
Extra points can be earned with exercise, only a small amount but to me this makes sense. After all the more calories you burn the more you need, right? I understand why Slimming World doesn’t do this but in my opinion I prefer feeling like their points system makes sense in the real world.
Weight Tracking
The Weight Watchers app allows me to track my weight weekly, the same as the Slimming World app. The only thing I find better is that when I have gained weight I feel there is more support in the Weight Watchers app and encouragement. That said everyone is different and maybe you prefer Slimming World support?
It is cheaper!
One of the reasons that made me decide to give Weight Watchers a try was that it was cheaper. There seems to often be offers and I pay around £5 a month for my membership at the moment so I feel like it is worth a try and if I find I don’t get on with it then I can always swap to something else. It is currently on offer at £10 a month but keep an eye for offers!
