The best gifts for all budgets for Valentine’s Day 2024
Valentine’s Day always seems like another expense when you are finally getting straight after Christmas, doesn’t it? That said, maybe you use it as a great excuse to treat your partner and spend all your free money on them? Whatever your budget, here are some ideas of gifts you can buy them, or even make them, for Valentine’s Day this year.
This guide includes items I’ve been paid to feature, PR samples, and affiliate links that earn me a commission.

Gifts you can make for Valentine’s Day
If you have no budget or a very minimal budget then these ideas may help. They would also be great Valentine’s gift ideas if you are stuck at home and unable to get to the shops.
A Homemade Card
A card is a classic Valentine’s Day gift, but making one yourself adds an extra touch of personalization. All you need is some paper, markers or pens, stickers or other decorations, and a heartfelt message. You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you like – even if you’re not artistic, your partner will appreciate the effort.
A Romantic Breakfast in Bed
Start Valentine’s Day off on the right foot with a romantic breakfast in bed. Whip up their favourite meal – whether it’s pancakes, eggs benedict, or avocado toast – and serve it on a tray with fresh flowers and a cup of coffee or tea. It doesn’t have to be fancy; just showing that you took the time to prepare something special will mean the world.

A Memory Jar
This idea takes a bit more preparation but is well worth it for the sentimentality factor. Get a mason jar and fill it with little notes about all of your favourite memories together. You could include funny moments, sweet moments, or milestones in your relationship so far. Whenever your partner needs a pick-me-up, they can pull out one of these notes and be reminded of all the good times you’ve shared.
DIY Coupon Book
Create a coupon book filled with things your partner will love – massages, “get out of doing dishes” cards, or a night of their favourite movie and takeout. You can use a template online or make your own from scratch. This gift is thoughtful and provides the added bonus of quality time spent together.
A Personalised Playlist
Music has the power to evoke emotions and memories like nothing else. Create a playlist for your partner filled with songs that remind you of them or your relationship. It could be a mix of their favourite tunes, songs from special moments in your relationship, or even some new tracks you think they’ll enjoy. Bonus points if you burn it onto a CD or create custom album art.
Food and Drink Valentine’s Gifts
By cooking for your partner or buying food or drink you can both enjoy it can be low in cost and still be unique. On the other hand, it is also a low-waste gift, and instead of buying stuff that will inevitably end up in a landfill, you have time together to enjoy something nice. Nice food and a romantic film can make a memorable and romantic Valentine’s Day on a budget.
Here are some food and drink buys I think you will like for all budgets.
Wine

The Mount Rozier Fruit Bomb Red is a quality red wine made with grapes from the Western Cape area of South Africa. With a dark and red berry flavour, this medium-bodied wine is perfect for easy drinking and is full of jammy and deep flavours. Pick a bottle up from Morrisons for £8.

Villa Maria Blush Sauvignon is a great New Zealand wine with aromas of passionfruit and fresh herbs. It is a light fresh wine perfect with pasta, pizza or fish. Why not pick up a bottle next time you go shopping, ready for a homemade Valentine’s meal? It would be great with homemade lasagne, perhaps? This wine is available from Tesco, Morrisons, Asda and Sainsburys.
A Gin gift
For a gin lover who you don’t want to buy a big bottle for, why not buy a set of miniatures? This Mom set is just £12 and a lovely choice. It includes the following:

- MOM Rocks (Yellow) – London dry style with a citrus edge (37.5% abv). Serve with a twist of lime and black pepper.
- MOM (Black) – Premium gin with vibrant berry flavour and four distillations (39.5% abv). Serve with fresh cherries.
- MOM Love (Pink) – Premium pink gin infused with strawberries during its three distillations (37.5% abv). Serve with fresh strawberries.

For a unique hand-crafted gin, how about buying a bottle of Hensol Castle Gin? This is a pink gin with flavours of wild strawberry and Hibiscus is delicious and would be a lovely drink to buy a gin lover or to enjoy together. It is made in a Welsh castle in the cellar, so it is something really unique and special and made in small batches only. If this is the gift for you to buy then pop over to the Hensol Castle website to buy it for £30.

For a gin lover who is reducing the alcohol they drink, you could buy a bottle of Clean G available for £16 from the Clean website or from selected supermarkets. It tastes just as good as pink gin, in my opinion, and is a a great alternative.
A Hamper

Hampers make a lovely gift and this one is no exception. For just £35, it includes rose prosecco and some truffles, so a nice treat. I have shared in the image the box it is delivered in so you can see it comes nicely packaged and easy to gift. If this might be the gift for you then it can be ordered from Hampers for £35, or check out the other similar hampers if this isn’t quite what you are looking for.
Chocolates
If you want to buy a really lovely box of chocolates that taste good and are a bit more special than the ones in the supermarkets then how about this box from Wickedly Welsh? At £24.99, it costs more than the cheap supermarket box, but the taste is also markedly different. I can assure you they are amazing!

Valentine’s gifts you can buy in the Supermarkets
You can buy a few easy gifts in your local supermarket if you are short of time or money. Remember that you know your partner best, and just because someone on social media says they wouldn’t want supermarket flowers for Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean your partner wouldn’t.
I prefer cheaper ones from the supermarket and prefer not to receive them on Valentine’s Day. This is simply because I begrudge the way places inflate the prices due to demand!
Chocolates
An easy supermarket gift is chocolates; they don’t need to cost much, and even a pack of Love Heart sweets might be a nice low-cost but thoughtful gift.

A book
Larger supermarkets have a selection of books and usually for under £5, so a low-cost but nice gift for your partner if he or she likes to read. I have recently treated myself to this Jodi Picoult book, but there are so many I would love, so I am sure you can find something your partner would love, too.

Drinks – wine, spirits or cocktail ingredients
As suggested above, a bottle of wine, a spirit or even ingredients for cocktails would be a great gift. With something like this, you can spend as little or as much as you like.
Underwear
Could you buy him or her some saucy underwear? Larger supermarkets will have a good range. If you are a little unsure of sizes, then how about a cosy dressing gown or a silky nightdress?

Beauty and Skincare Valentine’s gifts
If you would like to buy something for your partner in the beauty of skincare area, there are so many choices. Whether you buy a bag of low-cost bath salts and run your Valentine a nice relaxing bath or buy them a high bottle of their favourite perfume, remember it is the thought that counts.

Cosmetics make lovely gifts for a partner who loves to spend time looking good. The Doll Smash lip collection includes everything she needs to create the perfect lip, from lipsticks to liners to gloss. From daring reds to alluring pinks and sophisticated nudes, the diverse colour range complements every skin tone and occasion, so you are sure to find something perfect.

Face Masks also make a lovely pamper gift for a partner who doesn’t usually get time to relax and pamper. You could combine this with other gifts or even just buy one single face mask if you are short of money. This tin of 14 peel-off masks is just £12.99 from Amazon.

A great low-cost skincare gift is Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula products. Whether you buy your love products to use themself or body oil you can use to massage each other the choice is yours. The variety is available in most large supermarkets as well as stores such as Boots and Superdrug.
Something different
You know the one you love best of all, would they like something a little different? Here are some ideas I think you will like.

I absolutely love the Vendula products and this heart coin purse is no exception. It is a gorgeous small coin purse with a handle to make it easy to carry around and fits perfectly with the pink heart theme of Valentine’s Day. check it out on the Vendula website for £43.
Luxury Valentine’s gifts
If budget is no concern, then there are some lovely gifts you could buy or treats you could organise. I have a few favourites I think would make nice treats.
Time together
How about a day out or a holiday? It could be as simple as a trip to the seaside or a spa day, or perhaps a holiday to the Waterfalls of Italy or a weekend in New York. I would love to be surprised with a holiday but I know it wouldn’t be something we could afford to just buy and surprise each other with!
Something Nostalgic
Another possible idea would be an adult Lego set or Scalextric that they enjoyed as a child. I know my partner loves his Lego sets, which is always a nice treat for him. This is also a great gift that fits a whole range of price brackets.
