Midweek Catch-Up 27/8/25
Hello again, here we are, the last midweek catch-up of August and possibly of the summer! We have had a lot of rain lately, so I am guessing we are starting to move into more autumn weather now, and the summer is gone for another year. Grab yourself a drink and have a read of what I have been up to over the last week, and some giveaways not to miss!

Weight Loss, Exercise and Mental Health Catch-up
There isn’t much to report on the weight loss and exercise front. I am still steady on the weight loss, but I can’t exercise as I am still having issues with my chest and lungs. The doctors are doing more tests to see what is going on, but for the time being, I am taking it steady.
My mental health has been reasonably good. It is so hard to know when I have other physical health issues at the moment, how much that is impacting things. Do you find the same?
Books
This week I finished listening to and reading (I have it on Audible and a physical book!), The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. It wasn’t quite as I had imagined, but I enjoyed it all the same. It isn’t the kind of book I generally enjoy, as I would call it mystery or cosy crime, whereas I prefer the more gritty thriller types. That said, I enjoyed it and will probably read the others in the series.
I finally finished reading Nothing to See Here by Susan Lewis. Ben bought it for me for Mother’s Day and I have had it on the go ever since. I think what I struggled with were the long chapters and the book had small print, which strained my eyes. When I switched to reading on my Kindle, I found that I soon got into it more quickly and couldn’t put it down. I would definitely recommend it.
I am currently reading Verity by Colleen Hoover, which I am thoroughly enjoying and in the space of 24 hours have got halfway through it! It is the first of Colleen Hoover’s books I have read, and I will definitely be reading more if this continues to keep me gripped. I am a bit unsure about “It ends with us”, though, due to the domestic violence aspects, I think I would find it triggering due to my history and PTSD.
On Audible, I am listening to Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, but I am not really getting into it. I do have it in paperback, so I might try reading it to see if that helps. Have you read it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Family and Life
Today our local football team, who Ben and Stuart are huge fans of, is playing at Everton in their new stadium. So, we are off for an evening there watching Mansfield Town play Everton. As you know, I am not a big football fan, or any kind of football fan to be honest, so it will be a long evening! That said, it will make Ben happy, and as a mum, I am all about that! Cross your fingers for us that they put in a good effort! I think they are unlikely to win, but hey, you never know!
Our wedding plans are coming along well, but there is nothing major to share on that front at the moment, I am afraid!
This week, I have been a guest on the Slinky By Tuesday podcast, talking about my website and journal. Pop over and have a listen! They also have a copy of my journal to give away to one lucky listener, too!
My journal is selling well, so I am really pleased with that. If you have not ordered yours yet, please check it out with the link below.
