Midweek Catch up 11/6/25

Here we are again, another midweek catch up. I have a few different things I would like to share this week so it might be a long one!

Weight Loss, Exercise and Mental Health Catch-up

Firstly, thank you so much for all the lovely comments and messages after I shared an honest post about my struggles. You guys are the best and always so supportive.

Weight loss and Exercise – This week has gone well, I think. It is hard to tell without knowing what the scales show but I know it is doing me good in the long term. I have enjoyed walking around the local area a few times this week. We live near some lovely fields, woods and lakes what are nice to walk around, all within walking distance of the house so I have no excuse!

I am still enjoying the cross trainer on the whole but this week has been ladies time so I have had cramps and not wanted to do much.

Food – This week I have done a little batch cooking and preparing. We have had quite a few salads but with different items in them. My latest favourite is halloumi but that is so moreish I have to be good and not have too much!

I also made a big batch of Singapore Chow Mein which Stuart and Ben both enjoy. I was planning on making Malaysian Chicken Curry towards the end of this week but as it is quite warm I think I may leave that until the weekend and stick to salads, fruit pasta and jacket potatoes!

Mental health – I am still struggling a lot but I have to keep reminding myself that an increase in my antidepressants wont change anything overnight and it takes time. I have booked myself in to have my hair done next week which is good. When I am low I neglect myself and don’t do things like this. As much as I still feel pretty rubbish I hope that having my hair done will help a little.

Books

This week was book club, which if you have been following me for a while you will know I love. The genre/topic was books that have been on your bookshelf for a while.

I finished Spare by Prince Harry before book club (on the day of group so I was cutting it fine!). I really enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it on Audible as he reads it himself. That said he does talk quite slowly which can be annoying if you don’t speed it up. He also kept referring to his dad (King Charles) calling him “darling boy” which gets annoying by the end of chapter 2!!

I have finished a couple more Freida McFadden books and as usual I loved them. If you haven’t read any I highly recommend them, my favourites so far have been Ward D and The Crash. They are really easy to read, proper page turners and have twists and turns until the very end!

The next book club genre is “books that have been made into TV or Film” so if you have any suggestions for me please do let me know!

Family and Life

We are all good this week and working together to eat more healthily and exercise more. We have been making more plans for our holiday and now have everything booked. I am hoping to lose enough weight to feel better in my clothes by the time we go but time will tell.

This week I am looking forward to seeing one of my best friends for her birthday. We have known each other since university and always have so much to talk about! She lives around 45 minutes from me but I enjoy the drive with an audiobook on!
