Alternatives to try in this recipe

Instead of adding lemon to this cranberry and honey drink recipe, you can try it with lime for a slightly different flavour.

The calories are about the same for lemon and lime so this isn’t something that will change.

Why not have some fruit with your drink to fill you up too?

Health benefits of honey

This recipe includes honey in the drink. Whilst we all know that honey and lemon are great for a sore throat there are other benefits too.

Did you know that honey is naturally rich in antioxidants? There have been links highlighted showing that consuming honey can lead to a reduced risk of heart attacks, strokes and even some types of cancer. Have a look and read the research for yourself and see what you think.

Honey does not go out of date and can last forever. Have you tried my honey and soy salmon salad yet?

Honey

Commonly used as a healthier alternative to sugar honey is recommended as a natural sweetener though people with diabetes still need to be careful when eating or drinking it.

Honey has also been attributed to lower blood pressure and improving cholesterol.

Another interesting use for honey is to apply topically to wounds or burns to encourage healing. This was done in ancient Egypt and some people still swear by it today. Personally, I would rather drink it than cover myself in it though!

  1. Loved this! Tried it with the lemon first and then the lime the second time… gotta say that your tweak was fantastic – the lime added the perfect amount of zinginess!
