These sticky mushrooms are a perfect addition to any meal. You could enjoy them with other accompaniments too. I have thoroughly enjoyed them with a jacket potato and cottage cheese before. Whilst the recipe is simple it really is tasty.
The importance of adding vegetables to your meals
Vegetables are low in calories compared to their density. This essentially means that they fill you up for very few calories.
The more vegetables you have in a meal, either as a side dish or mixed in with the meal itself, the lower-calorie the meal tends to be. A filling but low-calorie meal is perfect for weight loss.
All of my recipes include vegetables where possible but do feel free to add more as an accompaniment when you can. Always choose vegetables that you enjoy because otherwise you will begrudge eating them and are more likely to stop cooking them at all before long.
Trying vegetables cooked differently or adding herbs and spices can make them a little more exciting too.
Budget shopping tips
I try to ensure all of the recipes I make are accessible for everyone. By this, I mean that they do not use obscure or hard to find ingredients. I also believe that recipes should use as few ingredients as possible and avoid expensive ingredients. We would all much rather spend money on holidays than expensive ingredients, wouldn’t we?
This sticky mushroom recipe is truly no exception and a great quick easy side dish for any meal with ingredients usually in your cupboard!
Buying herbs and spices in bulk is something I really recommend. It can save a lot of money in the long term but also means that you never run out! I find that putting them on Amazon subscribe and save helps too!
Shopping around to see which shops have offers on your usual products can make a big difference to your weekly shopping bill. Additionally, don’t forget to check out the yellow sticker reductions and freeze what you can.
Frozen vegetables are nutritionally just as good as fresh so do keep an eye for those too to save money. Do you have any particular frozen vegetables you love? Do share them with me as it is always nice to hear people’s recommendations. This sticky mushrooms recipe wouldn’t work so well with frozen mushrooms but is great with reduced mushrooms that you need to use up!
Why these sticky mushrooms are great for weight loss
These mushrooms are a great way to add extra vegetables to your meal and on most weight loss plans would fit in nicely.

A tasty side dish that you could almost make with your eyes closed. It really is that easy!
4 tbsp. Balsamic Vinegar
2 tbsp. Dark soy sauce
Chop up the mushrooms into quarters or large chunks and put the mushrooms in a large frying pan.
Add the Balsamic vinegar and soy sauce and stir fry over a medium heat until all liquid from mushrooms and the balsamic and soy has gone, they’re covered in the sauce and they are of a sticky consistency.
Serve immediately or allow to cool and reheat thoroughly.

I know these mushrooms are a side dish, but I had a massive portion alongside boiled rice. Sooo good!
