Healthy Chinese Fakeaway Rice and noodle dishes
Egg Fried Rice
This is easily made at home. Cook your rice until almost done leaving it with a slight bite to it.
Tip into a frying pan and add beaten eggs and frozen peas. Stir the mixture on high heat continually until cooked throughout and then serve.
Alternatively, slice up an omelette and cook some peas with your boiled rice then just stir the omelette in!
Pilau Rice
While this is more of an Indian choice some like it with their Chinese. I have a recipe for tasty pilau rice here which uses cauliflower and pilau rice seasoning.
By making it with cauliflower you add to your vegetable intake for the day and consume a few fewer calories too.
Healthy Chinese Fakeaway Chow Mein noodles
This fakeaway recipe for Chow Mein Style Noodles is amazing and you will find you want them instead of plain boiled noodles every time, now you have tried them.
Healthy Chinese Fakeaway vegetable dishes
Sticky Mushrooms
Sticky Mushrooms are so tasty and add a nicely flavoured vegetable to your meal that feels naughty but isn’t. I also love them on a jacket potato!
Healthy Chinese Fakeaway Crispy Seaweed
Crispy Kale is the crispy seaweed from the Chinese. The finer you chop the kale the more you won’t notice the difference.
Sweet and sour vegetables
These Sweet and Sour Vegetables are really easy to make and great both with a Chinese meal or just as an accompaniment to any meal you enjoy.
Other vegetable ideas for a healthy Chinese Fakeaway
Shredded Spring Onion can be a great option to add to shredded duck, sprinkled on top of any rice dishes.
Check out my curry sauce recipe as this is full of vegetables so if you are struggling to add them to your Chinese meal this may be an easy way.
Healthy Chinese Fakeaway vegetarian dishes
As a vegetarian, I often find that choices are limited. Especially when it comes to recipes for healthy options.
I always try to share my fakeaway recipes with you and help fellow veggies like me!
Quorn and Mushroom curry
This Quorn and Mushroom Curry is so easy to make and tasty. Many Chinese takeaways do not offer Quorn options so this is a great way to have it at home.
Linda McCartney Vegetarian Pulled Chicken
This is a tasty packet you can buy in the freezer section of most supermarkets. Well worth trying if you are looking for something different to include in a recipe or make into a wrap.
Quorn in black bean sauce
I love black beans and this recipe for Quorn in Black Bean Sauce is definitely one of my favourites. It is low syn and really easy.
An alternative to wraps
If you like wraps to fill with sauces and shredded chicken or duck then these Egg Wraps are a great syn-free alternative.
They are like a thin omelette but actually when made carefully and filled you will love them and can save your syns for wine!
Healthy Chinese Fakeaway Meat Dishes
Chicken and Mushroom Curry
The Chicken and Mushroom Curry is a popular choice in Chinese takeaways but can so easily be made at home with my fakeaway recipe.
Singapore Chow Mein
This is one of Stuart’s favourites. He asked me to make him a healthy version and this Singapore Chow Mein fakeaway recipe is what I came up with.
Beef in black bean sauce
If you love Beef in Black Bean Sauce then you will love this recipe which is really easy to make.
Another beef dish to try is Chinese ginger beef which sounds good too.
Pulled chicken or duck
Easily cooking chicken or duck and then pulling it with a fork is a great way to enjoy meat cooked syn free in wraps or with dipping sauces.
Alternatively, fry it in a little soy sauce and some spices to make it a little flavoured.
Healthy Chinese Fakeaway Sauce options
Sweet Chilli sauce
Buying this is the easiest option in my opinion. Most options are around 1.5 syns for a tablespoon.
Perfect when enjoyed with your fakeaway if most options are syn-free then it is worth a few syns.
Chinese-style curry sauce
I love this recipe I made for curry sauce and as it is full of vegetables it is healthy too. I even make this Chinese-style curry sauce in the soup maker.
Hoisin Sauce
I absolutely love Hoisin sauce and at around 1.5 syns for a tablespoon, in my opinion, is well worth it.
An alternative to all the spices
If you fancy a Chinese without all the measuring of spices and such then why not try out SpiceNtice and see how easy their meal kits are?
Most are syn-free and have full instructions! Check out my Spicentice discount code here.
