Are you struggling to afford a holiday and wondering if it means you are stuck at home all summer? That doesn’t have to be the case and a holiday does not have to be abroad.
We’re lucky enough to have some amazing locations across Britain that can be explored. Which are your top 10 UK beaches?
If it’s sun, sand and a splash in the sea you’re in need of, then you can take inspiration from Regatta’s latest campaign that looks at seaside towns across the UK and how they have changed over the years. If you are driving a distance why not look for a maize maze to visit on the way?
Blackpool
Blackpool is home to a variety of attractions such as Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Tower and the Illuminations along the promenade, which is why it remains to be one of the most popular UK seaside resorts today. It is an easy drive from Manchester and Liverpool if you fancy staying at one of those too.
The coastal town has seen major changes over recent years, with the tramway being upgraded and the seafront widened. The iconic Tower has also been updated and it now includes a dungeon and 4D cinema. There’s plenty of things to do, whether you explore the three piers, check out the waxworks at Madame Tussauds or learn about the thousands of marine creatures at SEA LIFE Blackpool. Be sure to enjoy some traditional British foods while there at somewhere like Harry Ramsdens too.
Llandudno
Visiting the quaint North Wales seaside town of Llandudno feels like you’re stepping back in time. It’s a classic holiday destination, known for its stunning promenade, the Great Orme and its Victorian architecture. Llandudno became popular as a tourist destination in the late 19th century and it is still a popular choice with thousands of people visiting each year.
No trip to Llandudno would be complete without a stroll along the pier, catching a Punch and Judy show and stopping by the bandstand to listen to some music. There’s plenty to see and do, from classic funfair rides, amusements arcades, donkey rides along the beach and a play area for the kids.
Brighton
Located on the south coast of England, Brighton is a popular destination for many holidaymakers. It’s less than an hour away from London by train which makes it perfect for those looking to to escape from the hustle and bustle of the capital. Head to the pier to explore the amusement arcades, relax in the free striped deck chairs and sample some delicious fish and chips.
There are many activities you can do to keep entertained, from visiting the world’s oldest aquarium, which is now called SEA LIFE Brighton, to taking a trip up the British Airways i360 observation tower. Standing at 150 metres high, this offers amazing views of South Downs, Brighton and the Channel.
Kent beaches
Some of the UK’s best beaches are in Kent, a beautiful county and one I know I would love to visit more. I even have friends there so should make the road trip. Do you love any of the towns specifically? I plan to visit Deal as I have friends there but I am sure there are some hidden gems I am not aware of? Don’t forget to consider Scottish beaches too.
