I know I have them. I think most people have them. Those little things we always do on weigh day to try to cheat the scales!

Whether you weigh yourself at home or attend a Slimming World, WW or another slimming club group each week, we all do them. Which do you do? If you do anything else that isn’t here do comment and share!

If you are weighing yourself at home then be sure to get good quality scales or you will inevitably end up with inaccurate readings.

The best bathroom scales you should buy are ones that comfortably hold your weight, are easy to use, and can be used on your flooring type.

Find your lightest clothes!

Weigh them if necessary, come on I know many of you have weighed outfits before putting them on when it is weighing day! Leggings and a vest top regardless of the weather?

Nil by mouth!

After a certain time, that grape or cup of tea may make all the difference you know! It may not but why risk it?

Have a bath or shower!

As close as possible to your weighing time, of course, you never know how much slightly greasy hair could make a difference, always worth a try!

Even if it was washed the night before it just needs doing again, you know, just in case!

Laser hair removal on ladies legs means you never have to shave before the scales!

Shave your legs!

Or wherever you usually shave! It may only be a little bit but all those little bits add up!! Also necessary if you’re wearing as little as possible for the scales!

Cut your nails!

It is something you do anyway so of course doing it on weigh day means that a little bit is something you can take off!

Socks!

Do you need them? In the summer I have been known to wear ballet pumps or sandals without socks because we all know if the scales hovered between one number and the next one down it may be the weight of those socks you could have done without!

Pot of skincare cream on wooden surface
Moisturiser – miss it off to cheat the scales

No unnecessary products helps to cheat the scales!

Why would you add weight to yourself with moisturiser, makeup, hair spray and such things if you can avoid it? You can spot me a mile off on weigh day as I have frizzy hair and no makeup!

Walk to the group or park a little further away than normal!

That last bit of exercise may help. Well, it can’t do any harm so it surely is worth a go! You might drive everywhere the rest of the week but weigh day is your healthy day!

The way you stand on the scales matters!

Look forward, breathe in, breathe out, and stand straight, whatever your method is, don’t change it!

You never know, the day you change it you might regret it if the scales aren’t too friendly! Speaking on the scales too is a big no-no, it could make a difference!

Remove everything possible to cheat the scales!

Glasses, belts, rings, hair clips, earrings, necklaces and of course your watch!

Removing all of these of course makes a massive difference too, those little gold studs in your ears could be the difference between an award or not quite hitting the award!

Last minute bathroom trip!

Remember the saying “a pint’s a pound all year round”, ok so one trip to the toilet is unlikely to be a pound but you never know the difference that little drop will make, it’s always worth a try!

If you have constipation check out my ultimate tips for constipation!

Be nice to the consultant before the scales!

They have some kind of telepathic ability I am sure of it, and to keep those scales happy you need to be sure you smile at the consultant!

Do these tips help you cheat the scales?

Of course, all these things make us feel that we have done our best and if the scales still do not say what we hoped, they are wrong!!

Of course, it isn’t that chocolate we sneaked in and didn’t count or that night out off-plan, we blame the scales because we did everything we could didn’t we!

Anyway, it could have been worse we could have worn jeans!

So, what are your weight day rituals? Next time you are in a group watching the queue for the scales, I bet you can spot who has done which of these!

Have you read my 5 things you only hear in a weight loss group post? That will give you a giggle too!
