The benefits of a treadmill for weight loss

Losing weight can be a daunting task, especially when you are overweight. But where do you start?

Here are the real benefits of using a treadmill for weight loss and improving fitness if you are overweight.

Treadmill Workouts Burn Calories

Treadmill workouts are a great way to burn calories. Burning calories is essential for weight loss; the more calories you burn, the more weight you lose. Running or walking on a treadmill for an hour can burn up to 1000 calories, depending on your weight, age and other factors.

Helps Improve Cardiovascular Fitness

Using a treadmill regularly can also help you improve your cardiovascular fitness. Cardiovascular fitness refers to the ability of your heart, lungs and blood vessels to effectively work together to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the muscles during physical activity.

By exercising this way, your heart rate increases, and your blood vessels dilate, which improves blood flow, thereby improving your cardiovascular fitness and overall health.

A treadmill is a Lower Impact Exercise Option

Unlike walking or running on roads that can be strenuous on your joints, using a treadmill is a lower-impact exercise option, making it ideal for overweight people.

The cushioned surface of the treadmill reduces the impact on your joints, reducing the risk of injury and making it easier for you to exercise for longer periods.

It is convenient

For overweight people, going to a gym can be intimidating and uncomfortable, and that’s before you account for how expensive gyms can be. With a treadmill, you can exercise in the privacy of your home without worrying about the judgment of other people.

They Keep You Motivated

You can change the speed and incline of the treadmill to challenge yourself and track your progress, which can motivate you to keep going.

Remember, to achieve your weight loss goals, it’s essential to combine regular exercise with a healthy diet. So, start using a treadmill, and take one step towards a healthier, fitter, and happier you.

Why you need a high weight capacity treadmill

When we recently bought an exercise bike we found ourselves wondering why so many are aimed at light people and there is very little choice for those of a higher weight trying to lose weight. I have written about the selection I found to help you.

Regarding running machines, treadmills or walking machines, here are a variety starting with the lower weight capacity up to the highest weight capacity I could find readily available.

There are quite a few treadmills and running machines with a 120kg capacity or 18 stone 12 pounds so I have not listed them all as they are easier to find.

The higher weights are where people often struggle. If you find any others I should add, do let me know.

Why do they always show skinny people on them!? Frustrating. I have tried to include the kg to stones conversions as I know everyone prefers different measurements.
